these have a safety system so the shifter won`t go into any gear unless the brake is pushed(indicating someone sitting in the drivers seat),if the brake lights aren`t working this indicates that the fuse that operates the shift lock solenoid and brake lights is not working and needs replacing.check the fuses and replace the fuse and things will probably return to normal.
I think you have a bad brake light switch, Because the shift lever has a solenoid that works if the brake pedal is depressed. So I would say check the brake switch which should be under your brake pedal. Good luck
Possibly...shifters can feel like they are stuck in park when a vehicle is parked on a hill/slope and the parking brake was not applied. All the weight of the vehicle rests on the transmission, which makes it difficault to shift out of park.
There is a solenoid that requires that you have your foot on the brake with the ignition on for it to come out of park. With the key on, listen for a click coming from under the dash when you step on the brake. If you hear nothing, this is the area of the problem. It could be a fuse, a brake light switch, a bad solenoid, or??
Hi I'm litoshop if your the shifter is stuck then you must check the brake light switch this switch controls the lock on the shifter or selector good luck. if this information has been helpful please let use know thank you
