Most dodge fullsize pick ups came with a 9 1/4 rear diff. all8 3/4 and 9 1/4 diffs have a large rubber grommet in the cover all dana 44/60/70s have a pipe plug. this should narrow it down for you.

First, determine how many bolts are on the diff. cover and search a mopar differential site that discusses this topic.....i typed in 3.2 -no results- youd'd have better results looking it up by amount of bolts....then the 3.2 might make sence....there should have been more numbers and a letter or two.....good luck...hope this helps

There will be a part number stamped into the rear end. The dodge dealer can look it up. Also, if it's the stock rear end, the vin number is all you need to tell the dealer.

SOURCE: how to tell which rear end i have in my 89 ramcharger

sounds like someone has either modified/replaced your tag or replaced the diff

the only other way you can tell now is to pull the cover and measure the ring gear

I have a 89 dodge ramcharger le 150 does anyone know what le means?

Going by the bull that manufactures use to sell off the last of a production run where they use up all the extra spares they tag the name with LE meaning "limited edition" Buyers think that they are getting something special but it is the same old model with a few extras thrown in.

My 1996 camaro z-28 need the rear end replaced, so were is the id tag, that gives me the correct rearend , in hte car and should I pull out the complete rear end and have it rebuiled, and then reinstalled...

If you take the VIN # to a GM dealer they should be able to tell you the original rear end that the vehicle came with. If you are going to take the rear end to a shop they will be able to tell when they take it apart. If it is a posi rear end it will have a tag under one af the cover bolts (if it has not been removed) Once inside a posi rear end is immediately identifiable from the clutch pack. Also the number of teeth is stamped on each (pinion and ring) gear. Divide ring gear # by Pinion gear # to get rear end ratio. Didn't get directly to your question, but I hope this helps. Let me know. Thanks

Did you turn the bearing adjusters on the ends? They are held still with little bolts.
