The Quad 4 does not have plug wires. The engine cover plate has 4 bolts. remove them and lift straight up on the cover. the sparkplug boots will come up with the cover plate. They are protruding strait down from the coils(4) and the plugs are down in the valley between the cam towers if you have the DOHC or behind the cam tower if you have the SOHC.

SOURCE: Where are the spark plug wires located on a 1995

This car has no plug wires. On the top of the engine you will see a cover that says twin cam.. There are four bolts in this cover. Remove the 4 bolts then gently work the cover back and forth while pulling up on it. It will lift up. The plugs are underneath this cover on top of the engine.

Replace spark plugs in 1999 oldsmobile

Depends on which engine you have and model of olds. If its a V6 they are on each side of the engine, follow the spark plug wires from the coils. If its a 4 cylinder then they will be located under the cover on top of the engine, olds liked to use the quad 4 motor and to access those take off the 4 bolts that hold the top cover on the engine and disconnect the connector at the end of the cover on the drivers side. Then lift off and there they are.

Where will i find spark plugs and wires to do a tuneup

If it's a quad 4 motor, there are no plug wires.remove the 4 bolts on the cover ,disconnect the wiring connector on the end and lift the cover straight up,this will access the plugs. The tower you see when you remove the cover(actually the ign module) is more often the cause of misfires than the plugs, they get cracks in them like a distributor cap.
Be very careful when installing the new plugs, aluminum head is very soft. You don't want to cross thread or strip a hole. Also be eure the engine is well cooled off before pulling the plugs.

WHERE ARE THE SPARK PLUGS LOCATED ON MY 1999 PONTIAC GRAND AM

Hi. here's the procedure on how to replace your spark plugs. Spark plug location is in this procedure.

  • Park the car in cool, shady area and allow the engine to cool.
  • Step 2 Remove the parts of the Grand Am engine that hinder access to the spark plugs. For a 2.2 L engine, remove the ignition coil housing. For a 2.4 L engine, remove the bolts that hold the retaining ignition coil and disconnect the electrical connector. Pull the assembly straight up and away from the engine to remove it. For a 3.1 L engine, remove the air cleaner. For a 3.4 L engine, remove the windshield wiper module cover and rotate the engine for service access to the rear spark plugs.
  • Step 3 Locate the spark plug wire and grab it by the spark plug boot. Twist the boot in both directions and pull back to remove the wire.
  • Step 4 Insert the spark plug socket over the old spark pull and unscrew it from the cylinder well. Remove the old spark plug.
  • Step 5 Lubricate the threads of the new spark plug and screw it into the cylinder well.
  • Step 6 Test the tension and adjust it to the required setting. It needs to be 15 ft-lbs. for a 2.2 L engine, 16 ft-lbs. for a 2.4 L engine, 13 ft-lbs. for a 3.1 L engine, and 11 ft-lbs. for a 3.L engine.
  • Step 7 Reconnect the spark plug wire and twist it to lock the plug in place.
  • Step 8 Repeat Steps 3 through 7 for the remaining spark plugs.
  • Step 9 Replace all of the parts that were removed from the Grand Am in Step 2 to reach to the spark plugs.

Where the spark plugs are locate in 2003 dodge stratus

What motor? Chances are you have the quad 4 and the plugs are located under thevalve cover. SHould see 4 black wires that go to the top of the motor (to plug boots) the spark plugs ae about 4 inches down. You will need a spark plug socket (i believe 5/8) and 10"extension. If you are not familar with how to remove the plugs I would recommend letting someons else do it. IF you break one of the plugs your really gonna kick yourself in the but. Good luck

    Engine cranks but doesn't start

Pull off the hat and lay it up on the wipers. Run plug wires from the coil adapter towers to the plugs. Run a ground wire to ground the hat. Check for spark with a spark tester one wire at a time. Don't get near it when you have a friend crank it, there is enough voltage in the ignition system of a 2.3 quad 4 to kill you. I'm not kidding, just be careful.

this is caused because a misfire, misfire will be caused by defective or misrouted spark plug wires, make sure to check the firing order, on the plug wires, and if you just replace the spark plugs, then most likelly the wires are misrouted, and the cat gets hot because unburnt fuel like runing too rich, and will be related with misfire.
