Rpm and acceleration problem

Opel corsa 2005,manual 1600cc. I have two problems and don't know if they are related or not: 1) the car acceleration is not as high as it should be, I changed the spark plugs and their cables, and fuel filter but with no difference. 2) while driving, when I stop, the car is in neutral, the rpm does not decelerate to the idle rpm( around 800), it decelerates to around 1500, and when I make a slight tap on the gas pedal, the rpm returns to normal.

Throttle sensor fault. might be cleanable if removed. also could be a damaged idle valve, might be staying open this cal also give high revs. and tap and it will go down as its sticking. acceleration is the throttle sensor i may have blank spots. removing it and spraying in the switch breather hole and shake the cleaner around and turning it at the same time should clean the sensor. then shake and leave to drain out the cleaner. idle valve you will need to remove it and clean ti with some carb cleaner and a brush like toothbrush, clean it thorley out push the pin in and out to make sure its not sticking at same time spray it. then when clean leave to dry. then refit them. hope this helps

It sounds like the TPS throttle position sensor isn't working correctly. You need to find out what your fuel pressure is. If it's below specs., a new fuel pump will be needed.

Hi,

If you are "stuck in the Mountains", then it would be relatively dangerous to go back down if the vehicle's computer senses any malfunction in the braking system. Even your emergency brakes are also giving a warning. Since your vehicle is experiencing multiple malfunctions, either the sensors are reading wrong inputs, there is something really big wrong with the car or the car's computer is having a glitch. If even after performing the below listed steps and the warnings are still there and/or you are not comfortable with the brakes, then it perhaps would be wise to seek qualified professional assistance and consider alternative ways of going back down.

In most cars, the on board computer could be reset by removing the negative terminal of the battery. Some requires that this be done with the ignition turned ON but engine not running. Likewise, there are some car stereos that will go into protective mode (security lock) when the battery terminals are removed and would require a "code".

On the brake, pls look under your vehicle, there could be sensors that were disconnected. For the brakes, they would normally be at the back of each wheel. Additonally, parking brake lights would also come on if the brake fluid level is below minimum or if the brake pads have reached a pre-determined level of thickness (or thinness in this case).

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Check for exhaust leaks. Esp Leaks toward the front of the car. Hold your hand over the tail pipe using a rag and see where the loud hissing noise comes from. Repair the leaks and I bet the backfiring goes away

Good Luck

Opel Corsa. It's hard to start. Can it be a problem with the temperature switch?

Question edited for clarity. It can't be blamed on your wife!
"can it be I problem wife".

Unlikely to be a temperature sensor or switch, because when you start it, the engine is cold. It is a known issue!
