These are egr codes.Replace your egr valve it is most likely stuck closed causing the car to stall.

The other possible problem could be your catalytic converter have it checked.

If the car stalls after turing left, and starts right away after stopping: Check engine wire harness plug that is under dash to make sure it is plugged in fully. These plugs sometimes loosen over the years & can momentarily disconnect under stress; left turns. If it is this, then you will hear a snap when you push on the plug.

If that finds nothing wrong, remove the EGR valve and bypass tube and check them for cleanliness and blockages. If they are blocked, follow your maintenance manual's instructions for cleaning them out so you do not damage the valve, then replace them and reset the ECM.

Hello: Code 420 normally indicates a catalytic converter is operating below 60% efficiency. You need to take your car to another shop and request a COMPLETE diagnosis not a dart board guess.

My engine light is on so i took an OBD reading and it showed the error codes P0401, P0420 and P0133. What do I need to fix?

P0401 is EGR valve, low circulation detected.
P0420 Catalyst system.
P0133 is O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1.
All these codes are emissions related, so i would start with the EGR valve, it's probably clogged with carbon. The catalytic converter could be also, check that for excessive backpressure. The oxygen sensor can be tested, replace if needed. Good luck, i hope this helps.

FAILED EMISSIONS TEST P0401&P0420 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RESETED MANY TIMES WHEN CUT OFF ENGINE LIGHT COMES BACK ON AFTER 5-6 MILES. I HAVE REPLACED EGR VALVE .STILL WA\ONT PASS INSPECTION. WHATS NEXT?

P0401 indicates that the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected. This can be because EGR is faulty . As you have replaced this then the problem must be with the vacuum line . EGR valve vacuum line which can be broken or blocked. The vacumn ine must bbe checked for leaks or any blocks using an vacumn pump connected the line.

P0420 indicates that the down stream oxygen sensor reading is not steady and it is connected with the code P0401.

What's wrong with the code P0401 for camry 96

P0401 OBD-II Trouble Code
Insufficient EGR Flow
What does that mean?
EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It is part of the vehicle emmissions system, and is used to reduce combustion temperature and pressure to control Oxides of Nitrogen. There are generally three parts to the EGR system: the EGR valve, an actuator solenoid, and a differential pressure sensor (DPF). These things work together to deliver the correct amount of recirculation based on engine temperature, load, etc. The P0401 code means that OBD detected an insufficient amount of EGR.
