I have the same problem,it's the switch inside the turn signal
assembly.Unfortunately the entire assembly switch and all has to be
replaced.

Check the fuses first. Either probe each fuse with a test light, or remove each one and physically check them. Physically check the wires going back. Test light them as well for power Check the gounds with the test light. If all are okay, then I would look t replace the turn signal multifunction switch. If there are no brake lights period the check the stop switch (brake light switch)
This is attached to the upper part of the brake pedal itself. Should be a little wire off of it. When that goes bad the brake lights will not work at all.
Please note that the fuse for "brakes" is ABS only and has no bearing on the brake lights themselves working.
Try putting on the right rear directional signal. If the red brake light blinks, then maybe the bulb sockets are in the wrong position, on the brake housing, and those two sockets just need to be swapped around.
