Have 2008 S60 SE Sport and the key won't turn in the ignition. Goes to 1 and then won't turn any further

No, it isn't an ignition issue.

Check power to the starter motor solenoid.
If this is getting power when cranking, then the issue is with the starter motor solenoid or starter motor. Replace.

You have a faulty ignition lock. Replace.

Sound like you are dealing with a bad battery connection,or even a bad ignition switch,Volvo at your year had ignition related problems where the ignition switch would go past position 1,this was due to ingition column lock,On your type of make and model it is not adviseable you crank the engine,and recrank the engine if it not starting your immoblizer is done every one key ignition cycle,and can create false message,or DTC (trouble codes),

There is a problem in the shift linkage or internally in the transmission.
Needs further diagnostics.

if the key won"t turn at all ,take it out and put engine oil on it or get some graphic spray and spray into key tumbler ,

ignition needs to be replaced try to turn the wheel while turning key

sounds like your ignition is junk probaly bad tumblers

make sure it is all the way in park or nutrual if that does not work u might need a new ignition cylinder

turn the key around and insert it ,when you turn it should work

Sounds like an oxygen sensor (there are two). I had a recent problem where I had a rough idle and my S60 continued to stall out. Turned out to be the rear oxygen sensor. After replacement, car idles nicely and car drives normally.
