Hi!!

The two meters have in common their connection to the instrument panel. So, let's check for a loose plug. Try to reach back of instrument panel from under dash to check for it.

If nothing found there, check speed sensor/gas gauge circuits for blown fuses, open circuits and broken wires.

My gas gauge & speedometer gave out on my 2004 gmc yukonis there any recall on this type of situation?
Yes there is a recall for erratic gauge readings. They will supply new instrument cluster and labor to install it at no charge to you. Tell the service writer that your gauges only work sometimes and they'll help you out. worked for me!!!

The speedometer do not work when the car is runing and the gas level too
  • For the speedometer check the cable check if it is properly connected.
  • For the gas gauge try to check the floater or check the fuse for the gas gauge.

All of a sudden my speedometer and my gas gauge quit working
If it would of been only your speedometer I would of tell you to replace your speed sensor. But in this case you gas gauge stopped working as well so I would recommend taking your whole cluster to a mechanic he will try to fix those two items, otherwise you will need to replace the whole cluster, same thing happened to me. Gas gauge and speedometer not working
for what i had experienced is to change the fuel sender unit and speedometer gauge and recalibrate the IPC to the latest calibration.

sounds like your missing a ground somewhere.

Speedometer works sporadically
It sounds as if liquid got into the instrument cluster and the speedometer gauge might have some rust on the spring. Check to see if any other gauge is sticking sometimes.
