****-eyed idler pulley on 2002 intrepid

I have a 2002 dodge intrepid 2.7L engine. I just replaced the generator/power steering idler pulley. I have the belt at the correct tension for a new belt...however the pulley looks ****-eyed...is that normal for these type of vehicle?

Yes I tightened the nut. I actually took it off again and started over...dropping the adjusting nut all the way down and then adjusted everything and it is strait and tight again. Thanks.

SHOULD NOT BE LIKE THAT..DID YOU TIGHTEN NUT ON PULLEY STUD?..IT SHOULD STRAIGHTEN OUT WHEN IT'S TIGHT..MAY BE TOO MUCH TENSION ON BELT..IS SPACER BEHIND PULLEY?

Engine whine

It could be any of the pulleys on the engine. Water pump, ac compressor, alternator, idler, or power steering pump. I would say that it is more than likely the power steering pump wining. That would be my first suspect

Can't fint out how to change belts

The alternator and power steering belt should have been removed first, but here is the way to get it off. The belt, the idler is adjustable - loosen locknut on the small pulley above the alternator, at top left of alternator, The bolt on the outside of pulley, behind the pulley top left, is an adjuster bolt, turn til you can slide belt off easily; hoped this helped

How to replace belt tension pulley for dodge neon 2002

The power steering and A/C belt is tensioned by a tensioner pulley. Mine went bad and was "screaming" I thought it was the power steering pump and I replaced it only to find that it wasn't the problem. I couldn't find any bolts and deemed it too much of a problem for me to replace at home. The shop had to drop the engine and transaxle assembly from the engine bay in order to get enough room to replace the pulley. The problem with many FWD cars is having enough room to work so if you have to replace it, the engine has to move because you only have about two inches of room otherwise.
