Needto replace rear wheel bearing 2002 chev s10 blazer

Remove the brake drum, remove the plate that holds the axle to the brake backing plate. The nuts are under the hub flange (where the wheel studs are), there is a hole in this flange to insert a socket on an extension. (you will need to rotate the hub flange to reach all four nuts.) After you get these nuts off, attach an axle puller (slide hammer) to the hub and pop the axle half-shaft out. Take this to a machine shop and have them press the old bearing off and press the new bearing on. Slide the half-shaft back in, and reinstall the nuts.

Might as well replace both bearings (left and right sides) while you are at it. Mark which side the axles come out of, often they are not interchangeable.

Sometimes you can rent or borrow the axle puller from a major chain auto store such as Checker or Auto Zone. They should be able to recommend a machine shop also, if they don't have the correct press.

How to change cv axle Chevy Impala

Ok CV axles are ones used only on front wheel drive vehicles so if this is the case here you go....before you jack up the car, try to loosen up the spindle/hub nut using a good size strong breaker bar and pipe assembly once loose jack up take opff tire, remove the disc caliper assembly, reve the axle bolt/washer, remove the rotor and bearing hub and assembly, place a pan under the outboard side of the transmission (where the axle slips in to catch any trans fliud that may leak out) pry the axle shaft out....remember to always support any vehicle with jack stands to insure your safety....wear goolgles rust and grease **** when it hits the eye balls and try to wear mechanics gloves to help prevent any nasty cuts and or grease paws...replace using the same proceedure....when you have everything in....tighten up the axle shaft bolt once the car is lowere with the wheel on the ground as this will allow you to fully torque that large nut to its full capacity, hope this helps.....John.

2003 chevy s10 zr2. front left making bad noise. grinds, bangs, squeels. looks like where axle goes into hub is very loose.

The axle nut could have backed off, or it could possibly be the hub assembly. There are three bolts that go into the backside of the hub through the knuckle side. Hubs wear out but they usually just hum really loud on the highway.
