Mazda tribute cranking but not starting, reves were initially high at low speeds but after parking it, it couldnt start the following day

Get a OBD scanner and check for codes, considering the engine speed was high at idle and now it won't start it could be a few different things, most likely a sensor. Something like the idle air control, throttle position sensor, etc. But its going to be hard to tell which one without getting some info from the car with a reader, that is if your lucky enough that a code was set. Did the check engine light come on when it was running the previous day?

Try depressing the gas pedal slightly when cranking, not too much just a bit as it might not be sensing the throttle position, see if it will start then.

97 tacoma runs a few seconds and dies. will stay running if you keep foot on gas for a few mins then let off. crankshaft sensor code, replaced it but still get code. could it be iac or tps

If the code for the crank sensor comes back, then there's still a fault in that circuit. Check for sensor resistance and wiring harness short or open. Crank sensor resistance should be 1,630 -2,740 ohms when cold. TPS would not cause those symptoms. IAC could cause rough idle but wouldn't affect higher RPMs. Bad coolant temp sensor could also be part of the problem. Bad sensor = ECM thinks engine is warmer than it is and provides too lean a mixture. But fix the crank sensor issue first since that affects the fuel injectors.

Engine lockout

have you tried holding the gas pedal down a little to see if it starts that way,if it starts then your throttle body/ IAC is dirty,if that didnt work, check for fuel pressure if you dont have a pressure guage you can un-clip the fuel line at the eng have a small plastic jug to catch the gas and have someone just turn the key to run ( not cranking it over) and see if a shot of fuel comes out of the fuel line, then have them crank it over and see how much gas comes out-if nothing or very little then you may have a plugged fuel filter or bad pump,or a bad fuel pump relay-if gas comes out, then it could be cam sensor or a crank sensor problem, assuming every thing else is good-you didnt say if the coil pack was new or used,or if you checked for spark, but a scan tool would give you a code for either the cam or the crank sensor or any other relavent code.A bad PCM will also stop the spark and the fuel,I hope this is helpfull

My 1998 tj jeep is hard to start, i replaced fuel pump because the filter had come off the end of it. and replaced the crank position sensor because i got a code po320 It ran fine for a while and then...

try to give it a little more gas it sputters an back fires! In the first place your not giving it more gas unless it running ! If just cranking all your doing is letting more air in . Your vehicle has electronic fuel injection , not a carbuerator . Till the computer see's a RPM over 300 rpm , it's going by programming installed in the PCM - engine computer . It sputters an back fires because of a lean condition , low fuel . When starting a fuel injection engine you don't touch the throttle pedal . And if you were to push it to the floor and hold it , the computer goes into clear flood mode. If the vehicle were flooded that is what you would want to do .
P0320 OBD II Trouble Code
You may have O2 sensor problem or a map sensor or coolant temp . sensor . Your best take it an have a qualifiedd repair shop diagnose it .

Remember the Toyota issues a few years back
NASA found nothing wrong with them
Don't think you have drive by wire in 1996
Your saying no one can look up a Code, odd isn't that
You can Google any codes you ever get & read for months

Have you checked base fuel pressure with a gauge ?
Code 42 is a problem with the fuel pump relay or ASD relay circuit.

My 97 intrepid will start up, but putter out within seconds

Map Sensor or Crank Sensor. If you have a code reader the map sensor should throw a code, the crank sensor most often will not. Both will cause the car to start, idle to around 1,000 R's and then die.

2000 Buick Lesabre hard start

Try depressing the gas pedal once before cranking. If it fires right up then replace the fuel filter. If not then you may need to replace the cam sensor.

2003 Nissan xterra...couple problems...timing belt just changed...knock sensor, crank shaft positioning sensor, distributor cap all changed...service engine soon light keeps coming on...took to...

Had same issue with (re: crank position sensor) on a 2002 Kia. Had all the same work done as you, only to find out with was one of those Kias with a manufacture defect in the block where the crankshaft keeper key slots to lock crankshaft in place in block. The block half of the slot had worn and the crank shaft itself kept slipping out of time. Is it throwing any codes? Gas pedal linkage may well just need a good cleaning and lubrication.

Code p0335, and jerkinging problem with pending codes p02300 and p0711

THE INTERMITTENT SIGNAL FROM THE DEFECTIVE CRANK SENSOR IS CAUSING THE CAR TO STARVE OF SPARK AND FUEL. IF YOU REPLACE THE CRANK SENSOR, THIS WILL FIX THE JERKING PROBLEM BY HAVING A CONTINUOUS FLOW OF FUEL AND SPARK. THE TRANSMISSIONS ON THESE CARS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR SHIFTING PROBLEMS. THE TRANSMISSION MAY NEED A NEW FILTER AND FLUID. HOPE THIS HELPS. KEEP ME POSTED PLEASE. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK
