Do you have properly functioning heat riser tube?

The metal tube that connects to the exhaust manifold that provides heat for a cold engine until it warms up? You should also check the valve for fresh air / heat riser air. As the engine warms up the air supply switches from heat riser air to fresh air from the air filter assembly. I have most often seen this controlled by a valve with a vacuum hose.

good luck

Bottom falls out of idle after revving engine cold

Its probably a problem with the water temperature sensor. Also do not rev a cold engine. The engine has a "cold start sequence" which is similar to a choke. When the engine gives a cold signal, the fuel mix is made richer and the timing is changed until the engine warms.

Let the engine warm at the preset factory settings. Sometimes the O2 sensors will cancel the cold start sequence before the water is warm. Racing the engine will warm the O2 sensors too quickly.

Runs ruff while cold at start up

There is a door in your air intake that is thermoststicly controlled
that is to remain partially closed until tge engine warms up.Thereby letting in cold air on a cold engine, causing it to run rough.

I have a 1985 mercedes 500 sl. It starts fine but when the engine is cold it has no power until 300 rpm. as the engine heats up this condition gradually goes awy. I have tested the EGR valve and it op

Friend, you have a faulty temperature sending unit. Change THAT and you'll have this problem no longer. The temp sending unit, when cold, will put the engine, by the computer, into cold start mode, the engine starts getting a bit more fuel until is warmed up, then the sending unit tells the computer it's warmed up and shuts down the cold start mode. Only makes sense, Right?

Hard to start when cold. . . ive herd it runs rich when first staring because of the tbi system. what i herd is the coolent sensor on the left side of the block tell the pcm or pcu to give a hotter spark...

the engine coolant temp sensor tells the PCM to regulate fuel control until the truck warms up and then the O2 sensor then controls the fuel . the computer can't adjust the amount of spark(hotter or colder spark) only the timing. the engine coolant temp sensor will have 2 wires going to it while the temperature sending unit(the one for the gauge) has only 1 wire going to it.YES, if the engine coolant temp sensor is bad and is telling the PCM that the truck is already warm or hot at cold start up then it makes the truck harder to start.
