The door locks in the R53, R50, and R52 are controlled by the BC1 control module. Unless someone has changed the wiring that would be your #1 suspect.

You can try to change the settings in the BC1 if you have the BMW program NCS Expert or the BMW Coding tool available. Unfortunately, water sometimes drains down into that specific module and causes issues. Other than that, you're left at the mercy of the stealership. Best of luck.

From the Hayes "Cadillac CTS and CTS-V '03 thru '12" manual (the writers state that their collection of wiring diagrams is not complete and only includes the diagrams that they believe are most often needed):
-- Hayes Manual pg. 12-45: License plate lamps: purple wire from left position lamp circuit, rear fuse block mini-fuse 15 (10A). Pulling this fuse should disable license plate lamps, left-side front parking and side marker lamp, left-side tail lamp, and left-side brake and turn signal lamp.
-- Hayes Manual pg. 12-61: Trunk light: called rear compartment courtesy lamp, powered by orange wire from Body Control Module, which is powered by underhood fuse block Body Control Module 2 mini-fuse 36 (15A), and underhood fuse block Body Control Module 7 mini-fuse 69 (10A). Pulling these fuses should disable all courtesy lights (with the possible exception of front door lamps), reading lamps, sunshade lamps, and trunk latch.
Be careful. Check that the circuits are dead after you pull the fuses. The after-market manuals often have mistakes, especially presenting information from the wrong year car. Hopefully computers will not be damaged.

Lights are easy to wire. Positive to positive, negative to negative, and another positive for an ACC (to come on with the car). Or just use a circuit breaker, (like a switch) and manually turn them on/off.

ISSUE:
Some vehicles built prior to 12/1/2001 may exhibit the following shift and engagement conditions:

No 2nd Gear
No 3rd Gear
No Engine Braking In Manual 1st.
Out of specification pressures controlled by the transmission main control valve body separator plate may be the cause.

ACTION:
Verify the condition, the main control valve body separator plate may need to be updated to the latest level. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

CAUTION: A NEW SEPARATOR 7Z490 MUST BE USED WHEN INSTALLING THE SPECIAL SERVICE KIT 7M203 OR ADDITIONAL TRANSMISSION DAMAGE MAY OCCUR. REFER TO THE PARTS APPLICATION CHART IN THIS ARTICLE FOR CORRECT SEPARATOR PLATE PART LISTING.

Verify that one or more of the following conditions exist.
Low Line Pressure While In Drive At WOT
No 2nd And/Or No 3rd Gear
No Engine Braking In Manual 1st
DTC P0732, P0733 Or P1762
Install Kit (3L5Z-7M203-JA) to update the main control valve body assembly, refer to the installation procedures found in the kit.
Reinstall the main control by continuing to follow the installation steps listed in the Workshop Manual, in-vehicle service, main control valve body.
After completing the procedure, verify the condition has been corrected.
Clear all DTCs.
