I have a 2001 BMW 330CI convertible. The Hood of the car can lock and unlock. I have to use a coat hanger to release it from the locking mechanism by pulling the latch toward me to actually lift the hood up. I can then close the hood normally and locks into place so I can drive with no issue.

It appears the release lever isn't connected somehow. What is the solution or the fix to this?

How do I open my hood on my 2006 BMW 750Li. The latch inside is broken off. When I drive the hood pops up a few inches but will not open.

You can try to fit a wrench in to unbolt the striker attached to the hood then pull it up to get to the hood lock for replacement

How to gwEt the hood open

The latch is broken or the cable? If the cable that opens your hood is broken, here is what I would do. I would try and reach up where the latch is and find where the cable attached and tug on it, I might use plyers to grip it if my fingers wasn't strong enough. If I couldn't reach up there with my arms, I would try to remove the grill, or see what I could remove so I could reach it and/or see it.

Bonnet cable brook on bmw 3 series

Okay, so the hood latch cable on your BMW 3 series has broken. Normally the cable itself will snap and a you can purchase a new cable that can be threaded through the casing and reconnected to the hood latch. You will need to get the hood open, so hopefully there will be some access to the hood latch mechanism from underneath the front of the vehicle.

Latch to open hood is broken is there another way to get hood open

If the safety latch is broken, you're going to have to get hold of where the lever hooks into the hood and pry it out.

Hood Won't Open, and Lever Broke

Hi viper852004 , the only way you can do this is to remove the front grills and then you will be able to see the 2 sprung bonnet pegs, you will need to loosen the adjusting nut where it screws into the hood and unscrew it until it becomes unattatched from the hood, do this for both pegs and then you should be able to release the hood to fix the problem. the pegs will need to be reinstalled before driving the car as the hood will not close, hope this is of some help, regards mark.

325i Hood won't open after front end collision

with out seeing a pic of the damage, you need to pull the latch inside & then go pull the latch out side, some times both have to be done simultaniously, two people, you may need to make a wire pulling device with a coat hanger to pull the out side catch latch at the top of the hood. Good luck

2003 325 xi bmw

You would have to acess the hood latch from underneath the car up through the grill area. Also if the cable broke off flush, you can cut back the liner and use pliers on the exposed cable. A new cable would come with the liner and all anyway.
