Under the back of the vehicle. If it is not there than one ofe two things happened. The wire that holds the spare tire in place broke and the tire fell out from under the vehicle. Have a shop do a smoke test on the vapor line between the engine and vapor canistor. Mine was full of holes, same year as yours.

do the lights work on selector buttons if so check actuator on transfer case may be bad or replace selector switch i just did and my four wheel drive works sometimes
