The seat belt in my car dont work after i got into a car accident! what could be the problem?

after a seat belt being stressed that much in any accident it locks out

almost every 3rd world country would say the seat belt should be replaced with a new one

if its you or passengers wearing that one .. ..
better idea to have reliable safety belts
than a head going through a windshield

by law seat belts cannot be repaired so to comply , replace it as a unit
many seat belts become frayed on the edges from use and the common fix is to run a lighter along the edges to reseal the nylon fibers
This makes the seat belt weak and increases the risk of failure and injury in an accident to an unacceptable level
If a vehicle has been involved in an accident it is a requirement by law to replace all those belts that were in use at the time of the accident

Seat belts are like air bad once they are activated in an accident they can not be reused. There is an explosive charge that tightens the belt

Does it ding with the seat belt latched ? if so you probably need a Multifunction Alarm Module or have a shorted wire . Was the vehicle in an accident ?

they have a mechanism called a seat belt cam which is gravity activted with force and usually at 15mph and with sudden braking the cams should lock. If u feel that they have to much play and seem like they dont lock properly id suggest changing both belt assemblies because the cams do wear or get stuck and fail like any other moving part and it is a saftey issue for u so better safe than getn injured with a faulty belt.

This should be replaced. It is an eletronic part and will malfunction after accidents.

Dave I highly reccomend you to replace the seatbelt instead of repairing it ...you wouldnt want it to fall in an accident... the dealer dont repair them for this reason

you remove them and unlock the gas release on bottom of seat belt but I would suggest getting used ones from junk yard.

take vehicle to the dealership, seat belts are lifetime warranty from 1987 on up, you get free working seat belts (dont mention accident at dealer).
