Does the 2002 Kia Sportage have an noninterference engine or does it have an interference engine?

2002 Kia Sportage 2.0L dohc, is an interference engine, will cause piston to valve damage, Kia recommends timing belt replacement in California every 90,000 miles, except California every 60,000 miles, hope this was very helpful.

How do i put the time on the timing belt?

Timing is not adjustable. If you need to replace the timing belt , let someone who knows how do it. Kia's are interference engines which means that if you do not do the belt exactly right , you will destroy your engine. Find a good mechanic , but avoid dealerships , they tend to way overcharge.

KIA SPORTAGE TIMING BELTS?

hi well this does sound strange, i myself have not heard of a modern belt needing to be adjusted, as they have automatic adjusting pulleys, which as you say either work or don't, i know some vehicles have an alignment on the tensioner pulley, but that shouldn't have an effect on the actual tension of the belt, i might be barking up the wrong tree here, i know a long time back, fords used to have a tensioner that could be tightened as the belt stretched, to this was only on the serpentine belt and not the timing belt, i think they are wrong..my opinion..hope this helps
