My toyota echo has the problem with loss of power with trying to accelerate. The mass airflow sensor has been talked about being a solution to this. Where is it located?

2000 chevy blazer, idle fine, loss of power at acceleration

Either an electrical problem (spark plugs, bad cables or ignition box) or a sensor problem, especially the one associated with the throttle setting (I forget the name; but there's only about 7 engine sensors, one of those, mass airflow or throttle).

Fitted new mass air sensor engine now very slow to accelerate

LOSS OF ACCELERATION

It can be fuel pressure issue or it's the problem with accelerator pedal or its clogged filters causing there.

There are many other possibilities. I suggest you to go through the list of help links mentioned below, these will help you to confirm where the actual fault lies: -------

Is the metal flap on Maf sensor on 92 Lexus es300 supposed to move with gas pedal if car is not running? Will a bad maf cause no apart or a no start condition?

No. The metal flap in the mass aiflow sensor is not connected to the throttle control. The air moving through the mass airflow sensor moves the flap. The flap works a variable resistor inside the mass airflow sensor. The more (and faster) the air is that moves through the sensor, the farther the flap will move...that is how it measures how much air is entering the engine....that is what a mass airflow sensor does.

A bad mass airflow sensor can cause all kinds of fuel control problems that can range anywhere from a hesitation on acceleration to a complete engine no-start condition.

2000 4runner has very rough acceleration like its starving for something. Have changed air filter and fuel filter. When I stick my hand in air filter tube engine revs fine but when not it hesitates and...

Try cleaning the MAF sensor (mass airflow sensor) with some spray brake parts cleaner, let air dry and reinstall. The sensor is located in the airflow duct system leading into the carburetion area and has a wire connection hooked to it. My cousin had this problem on his 2000 4 runner but had to end up replacing his, about $80. Will spin the rear tires now.

95 toyota 4runner running bad. can not figure it out.

Check the timing and compression of the engine. It sounds like you either have a blown head gasket or a the timing jumped.

Engine light stays on , how to correct it ?

Hi there!

There may be a problem with the Catylist, O2 lambda sensor, or mass airflow sensor.

You would be advised to have these units tested. A simple metod is just to take it to a tune-up shop, as they will be able to analyize exhaust gasses, and test the required outputs.

Hope this helps you.
