It is a trick question, the 1999 rodeo/passport transmission has no trans dipstick. To check the level first warm up the car. Then on a level surface, with the car running in PARK. Crawl under the car and find the transmission. You will see two drain plugs. One lower is the main drain plug. The higher one is the check/fill plug. The idea is to fill the plug until fluid starts to leak out. No so bad if the plug is 90 degrees to the ground. But not this one. Checking is a messy job.

Auto Trans.and manual Rodeo has no dipstick. Fluid levels must be checked from underneath the vehicle on a lift at the shop. It can only be filled from underneath the vehicle as well.

I have a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo that I've just bought. I cannot find the transmission dip stick. Where is it located?

Most transmissions didnt have a dip stick. There is a drain plug in the trans pan and another plug higher up in the pan which is the filler plug. Fill until oil trickles out, put plug in loosely, then start and run through gears. Remove fill plug and top up level while engine still running and make shure vehicle is on flat surface when topping up level until oil trickles out fill plug again.
see some similar posts on Jackaroo, Trooper, Rodeo, Frontera all had similar set up, similar trans.

How do you check the transmimission oil fluid on my 1998 isuzu rodeo

If you find no dip stick you need to raise it off the ground preferably on a lift and check the side plug on the transaxle, open it locate the level should be slightly dripping out of the hole when opened, that is full.
If its a standard shift use 80 w gear oil, if its automatic use dextronll transmission fluid.
Have fun.

I cannot find where to put the transmission fluid in my 1999 Isuzu Rodeo. There is not an area on top to put more fluid, let alone check the fluid.

I have a 1995 rodeo with an automatic. the fluid level is measured on the dipstick, which is next to the oil dip stick on the v-6 anyway. you add fluid by removing a plug unedr the vehicle mounted up near the center of the transmission.
