I checked the fuse and it was fine. The motor sounds like its working, but the blades aren't moving.

how much does that usually cost to fix, and do you think that would be covered under warranty?

If the motor sounds like it's working, then it's a problem somewhere in the wiper transmission. As for the cost, that REALLY depends on who does the work. As for the warranty, that's probably going to depend on how much you tell them.

Did you check the fuse? (most likely culprit) Sometimes during heavy snow the motor gets overloaded gets hot and blows the fuse.

The motor has a worm gear in it. Sometimes also during heavy snow the gear strips out. You might need a new motor. Especially if you use the wipers to clear a lot of snow from the windshield in the morning.

Difinitetly a waranty item. If not I would throw a fit. These should last the life of the vehicle. As long as you are under the original bumper to bumper.

I have a 2006 kia sportage I have removed the rear wiper arm as not moving/.seized but the fuse is fine but fixing is not moving?please help

check for power at the wiper motor if you have power when the switch is activated if you have power there the motor needs to be replaced. if you have no power change the fuse and check again for power when the wiper switch it activated there is a relay that will cut out if the wiper is frozen to the window but unlikely that this will be your problem 9 times out of 10 the motor is gone.

Check to make sure your fuse is set all the way down first. Could be a bad ground too. Check the wiring at the wiper motor and maybe clean the ground and terminals with either alcohol or electric cleaner and make sure the are dry before you plug it back in. It sounds like a power to the wiper motor issue. If that doesn't fix it your wiper motor may have an internal short.

Windshield wipers stopped working with heavy snow cover

The windshield wiper circuit has an circuit breaker in it, under heavy load this breaker trips to protect the wiper motor, when the motor cools, the breaker resets automatically restoring proper wiper action.

On my Kia Sportage 2006 my windshield wipers stopped working. it isn't the fuse and you can hear the motor trying to work.

you need to take off the plastic cowling at the back underneath the windscreen there you will see the mechanism for the wipers it will be obvious what is wrong with the linkages if the motor is okay.
