On my 1993 detroit 60 12.7, one day the oil pressure dropped to 15 psi and the buzzer came on , now if I drive it 4 miles, pressure low and buzzer comes on.

I can only tell you that in my Cat engine, as the crank and rod bearings wore further and further, the oil pressure also got lower and lower. Perhaps one or more of you bearings has gone bad.
Good Luck

I have a 1998 VW Beetle and Im trying to locate the alarm/buzzer that comes on with the oil light. I need to unhook it. ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY! HELP!!!

First thing, check your oil pressure. Even if you check the oil level, if the oil pump is going bad then the oil pressure isn't high enough to keep the engine lubricated- that's probably why you hear the alarm. You'll end up needing to rebuild the engine if you drive too much without the proper oil pressure. If you're really sure you want to disable the alarm you'll need to remove the dash to get to the buzzer and disconnect the wires. You can also experiment with removing the fuse for the instrument cluster, but you'll lose all your dash lights too. Good luck.

Warning buzzer and oil light flash on VW Golf 1.3 Model 1987, oil levels are fine, this happens as soon as I start driving

You should see 2 sensors on the oil filter housing. These are oil pressure sending units. Check the electrical connections and wires first. Make sure everything is good, no corrosion, no cracks or breaks in the insulation and no broken wire strands at the connections. If everything is good then one of those sending units is bad. Hope this helps.

1989 VW cabriolet oil pressure warning light on at low rpm and idle. Oil pressure gauge shows sub 1 bar at same time. Is this a sending unit problem, or an oil pump problem? Where are sending units? ...

The Oil light is a dreaded sight, especially at idle. Usually if an oil pump fails, it dies, the same with an oil pressure sender. I had the same problem with a 97 neon, at idle the oil light comes on... (192,000 miles). If the oil used at the oil change was a thinner viscosity than what was in there, that could cause it. If not, it could be bearings going bad on the motor creating a low pressure situation. I fixed it by going to a thicker viscosity, from 5w-30 to 10w-30, and in a week the light went off... this was 7 months ago. Just food for thought, hope this helps.

VW Golf Mk4 1.4 16v Oil Light Warning on Dash

Measure your oil at normal operating temp, without the engine running of course. This will give you a more accurate reading once the oil has circulated in the system.

The system works like this:
  • With the ignition on, the oil pressure indicator light on the dash should come on and flash. Once the engine is started, the light should go out and stay out as long as the engine is running.
  • If the oil pressure drops below approximately 0.3 bar or 5 psi when the engine is running below 2000 rpm, the light will flash.
  • If the oil pressure drops below approximately 1.8 bar or 27 psi when the engine is running above 2000 rpm for more than 3 seconds, the indicator light will flash and the buzzer will sound.
If either this two warnings occur:
  • The engine should be switched off immediately and the oil level should be checked.

Oil warning light will flash and buzzer will sound when driving

Well theres two possible reason for this, 1: the engine is worn enough to let the oil blow by the main bearings causing the oil pressure to be lower then OEM spec thus activating your oil light/buzzer or 2: your using the wrong type oil, you should be using 15W40 diesel grade in all 98 and older vdubs gas or diesel engines. Alos there is one more thing you could try if you have elliminated step 1 and 2, the oil pressure sensors do wear out, replace them both (high pressure and the low pressure) there are under $15 each and easy to change. Good luck

GOLF 1.9 TD 1996

Hi

The light and buzzer are indicating low oil pressure and therefor if there is enough oil in th engine then you should have the oil pressure tested because you could have, amingst other things, a worn oil pump, a clogged strainer or a sticking oil filter check valve

Maybe you could try an oil and filter change using a good quality oil filter?

Very best regards

Geordie
