2004 Sorento check engine/starting

There is a chance something happened to the wiring harness going to the gas tank. The fuel pump and the circuit for the gauge is in the same harness.

Do you have fuel pressure and spark to the plugs ?

It could be your fuel pump

This code is for an EVAP purge fault, most common cause is loose gas cap, try tightening cap, may take a couple days for the light to go off, if it doesn't could be a purge valve error.

Here is what you need to do. The check engine light is on because the computer has detected a problem with your vehicle. You need to take it to Autozone or Advanced to get it scan. They will do it for free and they will let you know what they find. This will let you know where the problem is and then you can go rom there. The breaks probably need changed. thermastat problem? Antifreeze not circulating properly? Radiator needs flushing?

power steering pump

or a belt

usually you can reset a check engine light buy disconnecting the battery for about 30 minutes.

Did you try changing the Fuel Filter?  That did it for my Kia Sorento 2004.

replace the fuel filter first, if that does not work, you have a bad fuel injector.
