Question about Saturn SC2
I have a 1998 Saturn SC2. In the last 2 weeks I have notice a sputter during initial acceleration. It doesn't matter whether the car is hot or cold. Usually after taking off from a stop light between 1000 and 2000 rpms. After I get over 2000 rpms it doesn't do it. I can hear a PUH PUH and feel a sort of hesitation. Car runs normal after I get it over 2000 rpms.

Have a scanner hooked up to your car and do a data stream to see if your knock sensor is still working. On a heavy load, if the ECM detects detenation in the engine, it will automatically want to ****** the timing to make it run better on a load.

Try an upper intake flush, it takes about 30 minutes to accomplish and it flushes a checmical through the intake and removes large deposits of carbon that block sensors and vaccum ports. If it's done right it can improve your milage (I have seen a 4 mpg increase from this service)

It sounds like you may have a problem feeding the fuel to your engine, I had the same problem with my 89 RS. All the 1989 model's fuel systems were recalled. I think you may need a new fuel pump. The fuel pump is located inside the gas tank in the rear of the car right under the rear axle. The fuel pump itself isn't too expensive, but with other small parts such as the electrical harness upgrade and fuel filter and the labor you should be looking somewhere in the $500 range. I hope this helps.

Check your PCV hose, it may have a hole in it or may be completly sucked in. Or you could need new coils and spark plugs. Or your EGR valve is bad.

your throttle position sensor might me bad or out of adjustment. if it is out of adjustment then it can misfire all the way up to 3500 rpm.
i had a friend that had a miss fire at 2500 rpm. i adjusted the tpss right and the misfire went away. Check for engine codes by jumping TE1 and E1.
Your fuel filter may be dirty and restricting fuel to your injectors.
have your fuel pressure checked.
