Honda Odyssey 2005 with vibration/growl at cruising speeds. My Odyssey has a vibration/ growl when at crusing speeds. Under exceleration it appears to be fine but once you reach crusing speed (especially when the ECO light is on) it makes the noise and the vibration can be felt in the car. A tap of the accelerator will sometimes make it go away.

If this problem only happens when the eco light is on, then you prob have a bad rear engine mount. these vans have active front and rear engine mounts. when the engine is in VCM mode(operating on 3cyl) the front and rear engine mounts control the engine vibrations. when the rear one goes bad it connot control the engine vibrations. the rear mount can be visually inspected for failure(if its resting on itself), or on a test drive with the active noise control turned off. or engine brake torquing.

It sounds like the torque converter clutch is slipping. Deterioated transmission fluid can cause a shift quality concern like this. The first thing that needs to be done is to get that old fluid out of there. Check the fluid condition. It's probably dark brown or black. it should be bright Red. There is a drain plug on the bottom of the trans. Do a series of three drain and fills. (You'll need about 10 Qts of ATF-Z1 Honda fluid only.) Start by draining the fluid through a paint strainer filter. If the fluid is contaminated with clutch material. The trans will need to be replaced, but flush the fluid anyway. Fill the trans through the 17mm fill hole on the top of the transmission. it will take about three quarts. Then drive the car through all the gears to get the fluid curculating. Then drain and fill again. do this procedure two more times. and see if the the lock-up shudder is better or completly gone. This will buy you some time to save up money for a new trans and/or torque converter. 07-10 Odyssey's has a PCM update for this concern and if the update doesn't fix the shudder than the tourque converter is replaced. -hope this helps, best of luck.

2004 Honda Odyssey, When excelerating at low speeds the engine sputters. At high rates (40+), it sputters when I take my foot off the excelerator. When idling, the RPM's fluctuate between 1 and 2

Hi
your description of the car problem indicate that you have a problem in throttle body

have you do any maintenance recently to car throttle body, or the problem come suddenly. if no.

if no maintenance done then i suggest to inspect engine intake
line ( from engine filter box to throttle body) for any looseness of damage, also you have to clean your throttle body by an experience tech. and perform idle learn procedure.

hopefully this information fix your problem.

best wishes

Honda Odyssey 2003 cruise control will not come on. Could it be a fuse or? I push the selector to set the cruise to on and nothing happens. Any ideas what is wrong?

is the check engine light on, key on, and out driving?
if not the newer honda;s cut CRUISE, for many failures.
they dont want to be like Toyota, and car drives it self, LOL.
no kidding.!!!
so today cruise is LAST. to work.
if the ECU is in limphome , cruise is cut.
so connect a scan tool and scan for DTCs.

i cant guess country , nobody ever post this. but up in canada
the the PCM is differernt and the CEL may not glow for some very bad errors, (misfire is one) so scan it, and win.
if no DTC then its a real cruise failure.

My 2004 Odyssey at 1000 to 1500 rpm will growl and the tach will fluctuate quickly. If we raise the rpm at higher speeds it does not happen. Local dealer cannot resolve the issue...its driving us...

Try replacing TPS (Throttle Positioning Switch) These are basically a rheostat and after time they develop a wear/hot spot - usually right around highway cruising position. When they develop a hot spot you get hesitations and RPM fluctuations

Check for a broken plastic piece under the hood on the throttle control. Top, Back right of the engine. Probably will see the cruse control cable sitting there disconnected.

2006 Honda Odyssey brake problems

Sounds like there is a problem with these vehicles and that Honda are aware of it, and at least some dealerships are being honest about it. Check out the forum on fixya from other Odyssey owners here.
Sorry I can't be of more help, but I can only suggest you go back to the dealership and quote this "Honda Tech Line Summary Article",
#ATS050707..."Grinding, Growling Noise from the Front Brakes - A grinding,
growling noise when applying moderate to hard pedal pressure at low speeds
is caused by the brake pad friction material. An improved material will
be announced in a forthcoming Service Bulletin."
Ask them if there has been a fix developed for this problem yet.

Hope this helps,
Mark.

Cruse controll

Pull up on the brake pedal. If that does not work check your brake light bulbs (LED brake lights will also keep your cruise control form working). Finally check all of the fuses. This system needs at least 3 different fuses to work properly.
