RKE means remote keyless entry. Install a new battery in your key fob and your light will go off. Regards, Joe

I've changed the battery in the remote, had the battery tested at the dealership and the RKE still comes on, neither of my remotes will work with new batteries. Is there a reset button I should use?

  • Joe Hogan Nov 04, 2010

Hi Adam. Open up your remote and remove the new battery. Then clean the battery contacts in the remote using either the eraser end of a new pencil or a product at the auto parts store called electronic contact cleaner. Joe

    4 thumbs up please. ty.

SOURCE: 2005 chrysler 300 limited needs jumping every

One of the many low drain "always on" circuits is drawing too much current, taking the battery down at night. Security and memory functions are likely candidates. You are going to have to get this diagnosed as it will never fix itself. The poor man's way to fix it is to pull out one fuse at a time every evening when you come home. Eventually you will remove a fuse and find that the car starts the next morning as it should, without a jump. That means you have identified the circuit the bad component is on and you make a choice as to get it fixed or live without it.

Dodge Avenger 2013 - Horn honks once every time I physically open the drivers door? No warnings in message center and no indicator lights on in dash- could this be a low battery in key fob?

YES - ABSOLUTELY....

Replacing the battery requires no special programming.

However
So long as you have at least two (2) programmed
keys (up to eight are supported) you are able to add
additional keys or REPROGRAM your RKE fobs
(remote keyless entry fobs) ... YOURSELF.

My Ford Focus car doesn't centrally lock anymore, I have to use the key. It's not the fob battery because I changed it.

Sure you did put in a new battery? sure you did insert it correct? not the other way around? sure you did use the correct battery? like CR23 or AAA?
Sure all contacts in the battery compartment and on the battery are clean and shiny?
just a few things you could check.

Headlights on jeep liberty flash when turned on then go off

this is not clear, turning on WHAT.
via what means.
the flash when you enter car. with the RKE.
my guess is you turn on the head lights at the main switch and the only flash,
your not using the headlight flash feature, on same controls.
just wanting the head lights to turn on, and fail for highs and low beams.
rigtht?
DIY>?
check fuses.
check battery voltage it must be 12.6vdc rested, if not its discharged and needs to be charged, (or other issues)
or put a charger on the battery and see if the headlamps work now.

if this is not it , you need service,

Remote keyless entry doesn't work

use a code reader to reset the CPU program as removing the battery from the system then restoring it some times corrupts the CPU program and creates problems rather than fixing them

Rek battery low warning light appears

I think you mean RKE battery. That means the car has detected that your keyless remote transmitter battery is getting weak. If you replace the battery yourself be careful not to damage the small metal tab that hold the battery in. Simply slide the battery out from underneath it.
