I have and 2003 Mustan Cobra. I was hearing a squealing noise wich seemed like it was coming from the rear end. I took it to a shop called Griffin Brothers. They drove and said that my u joints were bad. They replaced them and the noise got worse. It turned into a knocking noise that is coming from the rear passenger side wheel. Can someone tell what the problem may be
You could have a failed wheel bearing. Jack the rear up with the trans in neutral (chock the front wheels please) and try to spin the tire. it should spin fairly easy. If you feel grinding or the wheel is difficult to spin then I would say it is the wheel bearing.
Testimonial: "Great advice"
Did the shop you took it to test drive the car with you? It seems like your rear differential might be junk or maybe even a wheel bearing worn because u-joints typically clunk when they're worn.

By now oboyd probably found his answer. If not, replace the (2) 12mm bolts and bushings in the front of the IRS. They were supposed to be 14mm but Ford inadvertently installed 12s by mistake in almost all Cobras.
