2005 Chevy Uplander Remote Starter

I just purchased a 2005 Chevy Uplander and cannot figure out how to enable the remote starter. The two remotes that the vehicle came with have the option on them but the dash menu does not have the remote starter disable/enable option on the screen. I was told that the remotes would not have the remote starter buttons on them if the vehicle did not have that option. The Chevy dealer I purchased it from does not have a clue. Suggestions?

Our 2004 uplander you hit the lock button and then hold the top center button for a couple seconds to start the vehicle. the icon on the button should look kinda oval with arrows going around.

Where is the factory remote starter located on a 2005 Chevy Uplander?

factory remote starter???? Your vehicle has remote start , doesn't work ? Does the vehicle start with the key ? Remote start is a function of a control module - BCM - body control module more then likely . Unless your vehicle has after market remote start . Your best bet take it to a qualified repair shop . The vehicle has a regular starter mounted on the engine ,remote starter is software programmed into the computers on the vehicle . Circuit/System Description
Remote vehicle start (RVS) begins as an RF message received by the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) from a keyless entry transmitter. The RVS request is sent by the RCDLR to the body control module (BCM) via serial data. The BCM monitors system conditions such as content theft deterrent (CTD), hood ajar status, and body DTCs to determine if an RVS even will occur. If conditions are determined to be acceptable, the RVS message is sent to the engine control module (ECM). The ECM monitors system conditions such as engine control parameters and vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) to determine if engine starting will be allowed. If conditions are acceptable, the ECM will initiate engine starting. During the engine run time in a RVS attempt, before the operator enters the vehicle, the ECM may discontinue engine operation if system conditions require it or a message is received from the BCM requesting the engine be turned OFF.

Your best bet ,take it to a GM dealer

When i start it with my remote starter 'starting disabled' comes up on the display

Hello Anonymous,

Please consult your owners manual to enable (RVS) Remote Vehicle Start. This feature is turned on via the menu button on the driver information center.

Factory Remote Starter works sometimes

Could be an engine or data problem.. If the check engine light ever came on, the computer is locking out the remote start. This is to prevent the car from running unattended that may have a problem. Have the compute scanned first or any codes, correct the problem and the remote start problem may go away.

Remote starter disabled not sure where to find switch or how to enable remote start

DID YOU TRY REPLACING THE BATTERY IN THE REMOTE?
IT MAY RESET SYSTEM.
WAS THE REMOTE STARTER FACTORY INSTALLED?OR WAS IT DONE AFTER MARKET?A FACTORY INSTALL SHOULD SHOW PLACEMENT OF SWITCH IN OWNERS MANUAL.(GLOVE-BOX OR ONLINE)
BUT IF I HAD TO GUESS TRY BOTTOM OF STEERING COLLUM,
ATTACHED TO THE WIRING HARNESS BEFORE THE WIRES TRAVEL UP THE COLLUM WOULD BE THE MOST LIKELY PLACE FOR A TAP INTO THE IGNITION CIRCUIT TO BE MADE POST FACTORY.

Remote starter

i worked as a chevy mechanic for many years, it sounds like your keyless entry module needs to be reprogrammed, only problem is, it takes a $4000 and a subscription to GM's service site. which most don't have, so its easier to just take it in to the dealer, however before they start working on it have them check for recalls on the programming, chevy releases reprograms on the computer systems every couple months to solve issues like this, if your van has an open reprogram on it, then the dealer will reprogram it for no charge. but make sure you have them check for open bulletins before they put any labor into finding the problem, you may get out with no bill at all if so.
