How would I test fuel pump I changed fuel filter 89 grand Marquis

If your car died suddenly while driving, it is one thing, if it just didn't start one day, it is another, but given you have not given enough information, start here. Always check fuse first, this will tell you if pump is shot in most cases. Then check fuel pump relay located left fender under hood in fuse box. There are three relays as I recall, and if fuse was good, then more than likely it is relay, if I recall, two of relays are same type, so swap positions to diagnosis, you should be able to hear the fuel pump running, so get a gift wrap paper tube and put it near fuel pump location on gas tank and you should hear it easily, so this will further narrow down problem if you can't hear it run.

    Good luck. FREE-PPV

Change fuel pump and car wont start

Did you check the fuses or try swapping relays under the hood. Sounds like more issues. Is the fuel filter plugged? Do you smell gas when trying to start? Check your fuses and relays to ensure fuel pump is working. You may have a shut off for the fuel pump in the trunk on the drivers side.

1997 Chevy Suburban Changed fuel pump fuel filter relay new battery engine turns over but will not start. Getting spark. Took off fuel lines going in top of engine not pumping fuel. Any suggestions

There is a fuse that deals with the fuel pump circuit through the ECM. If you haven't checked it's in the fuse panel under the hood in the engine compartment on the drivers side by the brake master cylinder. I hope that you have a cover for it with the names of the fuses. The fuse you want to check will be the fuse marked "ECM B". I gave you a picture of the fuse layout but it's not a good one but I did put an arrow to the one I think it is. I pretty sure that's the one but not 100 percent because it's pretty blurry. In any case there is a fuse marked "ECM B". I would check there if you haven't already. Other than that You may have to check your wiring. There is a fuseable link at the starter you may want to check if that fuse isn't blown. I hope this helps and good luck.

I have a 1999 chevy blazer that will turn over but won't start. prime with fuel runs untill it runs out. have code of p1351 in it

Need more info.......It could be the injectors are not pulsating...Check to see if it is spraying fuel from the injectors....If not it should be a clogged fuel filter or a fuel pump....It is almost definite though that it is the fuel pump/sending unit in the tank ...IF it is not spraying from injectors....
Disconnect battery remove main fuel line going in the fuel filter under vehicle frame at drivers side..with drain pan under it of course...Reconnect battery turn engine over and watch for fuel...
You will need an assistant...Most people think fuel is under great pressure but it is not.....If everything works the fuel will come out in a stream...But it wont come out like a bullet...
If fuel comes out Fuel pump in tank is good...Then your problem is at the injectors ...I would change the filter of course anyway...unless you just have...You will see rusty dirt come out of it if it is clogged...It is always good to change fuel filter every 15,ooo....Todays fuel is terrible...I would first check or swap fuel relay with a new relay or identical relay in fuse power block ...Make sure they are all good....................What engine and how many miles ? Hope this helps....Metalpoet

1996 Toyota Corolla is not getting gas will not start?

check your efi or fuel pump fuses. Check your fuel pump relay. All should be easily accesable either down under the drivers side of the dash or in the engine bay. Swap the pump fuse over with the horn fuse and see if it'll kick over. If not chances are your fuel pump is faulty. Possible can lift the rear seat base and remove a panel to access. hope this helps.

My subaru station wagon turns over but will notrun. I believe the problem is the fuel pump or fuel filter

this one would best be solved step by step together. First question i have is, when you turn the key to the run position, do you hear a whirring toward the back of the vehicle, then that means your fuel pump is getting power. If you don't hear that, then it is possible that you have a bad fuel pump. Next, you will want to start looking at fuses and relays. Under your hood, there should be a block of fuses. Your car's maintenance manual should have a diagram of your fuse block letting you know which fuses and relays affect which systems. Look for any blown fuses; 3 things i would look at are a PCM fuse, a fuse in the fuel system, and a fuel pump relay. If there are any blown fuses, replace them and try to start it. If it works, you've solved the problem, if not, try swapping the fuel pump relay with another similar relay. If the relay is not working, swapping it with another should correct that problem. Try to start it, and if that works, the relay is bad. Let me know what you find looking at these items, then if it still isn't working, we'll dig into the filter and pump. Good luck
