1999 Vauxhall Frontera 2.2 dth ltd. Living in France

1999 Vauxhall Frontera 2.2 dth ltd. Recently had a new turbo fitted. Since then the vehicle lacks power when accelerating from 40 to 65mph. Turbo is noisy and resonates through vehicle as if is struggling once above 40. On last visit to UK, garage checked out all vaccumm pipes and cleaned EGR. French garage hopeless and very difficult to get them to understand the problem. My suspicions are pointing to the exhaust side of the turbo as sometimes it sounds as if the exhaust has blown. Otherwise vehicle drives OK but lost that smoothness.
PS hell of a lot of white smoke when the old turbo blew this happened twice as I had to get it off the road for breakdown pickup.

Take the inter cooler pipe of turbo and try to move the fan or bolt inside the turbo, if you can then theres a problem with the bearing probably oil starvation parts of the fan will have been sucked through the engine so this could cause the smoke problem if the plastic is stuck in the exhaust valve check all oil lines and air lines, try getting some one to hold rag over exhaust pipe and look in engine bay if you can see smoke/exhaust gases coming from turbo unit then theres a leak somewhere,
its a complicated problem and without being there i cant really help anymore than that, sorry jezza

Where do i fill transmission fluid on a frontera?

You didn't say whether auto or manual transmission? I believe an auto fluid level must be checked using diagnostic equipment, from what I have heard, and the vehicle manufacturer seems to have a habit of fitting a level plug in the manual transmissions but require filling to be done through the breather. Apologies in advance if I have that wrong. I have experience of Vauxhall/Opel GM models but not of the Frontera so far...

I had a head gasket changed on a vauxhall frontera the top hose leaked slightly had a new one replaced but it looks like that is leaking a bit.

If you have the factory spring style hose clamps, I would try a good quality adjustable band clamp (stainless steel). Make sure the hose is seated all the way down and that the band is below the retainer bulge in the fitting.

Is the 1999 honda passport a front wheel or rear wheel drive vehicle when the 4WD is not engaged?

Rear. In Europe was on sales until 2003 (last line made) by OPEL as frontera. Equipped mostly with 2.2 Turbo diesel engines, rear wheeler, ability to engage 4WD, under motion up to 60MPH, having automatic front diff locks, and despite the bad critics about crash tests and behaviour, well sold. Still on the roads.
