I have a 1997 jeep grand cherokee larado. v6 automatic 2 wheel drive. Dealership said PCM was bad and causing vehicle to stop randomly at any time driving. I had the PCM replaced and the shutoff problem seems fixed but now the vehicle has a had time shifting through gears for safe acceleration.

several pos causes. 1 dirty fluid/filter 2 improperly adj. throttle cable 3 bad pcm 4 low fluid/ hot

a bad wheel speed sensor or not matching tires

Not sure but mine was about the same speed and it was a bad u joint in the front

The front propshaft on my full time 4 wheel drive 94 Grand Cherokee was vibrating badly years ago so I removed it and my Jeep has driven just fine without it since, no vibrations.Doesn't seem to cause any harm that I know of.

here is the short version...

the vehicle speed sensor is actual an interpreted signal from the ABS module and the ABS module uses the wheel speed sensors

therefore, if the ABS module sees a problem with any sensor it will affect the PCM input for vehicle speed

another possibility, but worst case, is the ABS module has failed

in either case you will need a professional scan tool to monitor actual wheel speed versus PCM vehicle speed

pcms rarely go bad, i know it sounds bad but i would be checking for bad grounds

I would check the dealer for any TSBs

its vapor locking try losing the gas cap a little and then drive it around if that works replace it or lust leave it lose
