Did you have a diagnostic done to find what your codes are? If not then that would be where you need to start. Most auto parts stores will either let you borrow a hand held machine or will run it for you if you ask and will not cost you anything. After you have your codes then you will have the problem narrowed down. Most cases the code will lead you directly to the cause, other times you will just have a system code which you will have to narrow down. In either case if you get the codes and come back I will try to help you resolve this situation. Otherwise The light will just keep coming on until you fix the problem.

2002 ford taurus... losses power, takes awhile to gain speed, runs rough, wont idle long... new parts; tps, egr sensor, egr valve... on way to converter and plugs... out of all the post & videos, seems...

look into the fuel filter or the intake gaskets, if the fuel filter is plugged that will cause low fuel pressure, and if the intake gasket is gone it will draw air into the engine after the MAS and give false readings and then the computer will try to adjust for it and it will cause all kinds of the problems you are describing.

2001 ford taurus 3.0(2) codepo174, changed oxygen sensors and fuel filter code still comes up on memory

This code is usually caused by leaking intake manifold gasket on the front side. With the engine running, spray carb cleaner or ether on the gaskets. If the engine revs at all, you have a leaky gasket. If not, check for other vacuum leaks in anything attached to that side of the manifold. If you have more questions, please let me know.

My 97 taurus takes a long time to start sometimes not until engine cools down after driven. obd2 codes 443 174 171 keep showing up then engine light comes on then sputters and stalls can anyone tell me...

P171 and 174 is running lean that means you have either no fuel pressure, bad fuel pump, cloged fuel filter and somethimes vacum leak on your intake manifold gasket.
443 indicates EGR valve solenoid malfunction.

Service engine soon light on a 1996 Ford taurus. I just had the brake line replaced 2 weeks ago because it had completely rusted out

when this light comes on it has nothing to do with the brakes it is an engine diagnostic faluire you must use an odb2 reader to read the codes see what the problem is and or reset the light! good luck!

2003 Ford Taurus, 90K, used car, engines shakes, ABS goes on

Are you getting any codes from the Check Engine Light? This sounds like it could have something to do with a sensor. Check your air filter and make sure it's clean. The tach on my 1999 doesn't really work, but it hasn't coincided with other driveability problems. The engine doesn't change in it's RPM's, the tachometer just stops working. Have your charging system checked. The shaking might be coming from bad fuel pump operation, clogged fuel filter, or dirty fuel injectors. Try putting an additive into your gastank to clean the injectors (a bottle of Seafoam is great for this). Try calling your local Autozone and see if they do free trouble code scanning. This might help lead you in a better direction.

I have a 1997 Ford Explorer. Check engine light comes on after 20 miles. After reseting the check engine light. The codes that come up are P 171 & P174. I already changed out the Maf sensor. But cant get...

Here is a list of possible causes, hope this helps.

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with one of the components or sensors it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light to tell you that there is a problem and you need to diagnosed and repaired it. The list of possible codes number in the hundreds. The code itself doesn't tell exactly what component is defective - it only indicates where to look, or what engine parameter is out of normal range. You or a technician will have to perform further testing to pinpoint cause and the proper repair. Even if you reset the light, if the underlying problem is not addressed it will come back on.

Possible Causes onepx.gif Setting Conditions onepx.gif onepx.gif onepx.gif onepx.gif
  • Air leaks after the MAF sensor, or leaks in the PCV system
  • Vehicle running out of fuel or engine oil dip stick not seated
  • EGR valve gasket is damaged or leaking around the gasket
  • Exhaust leaks before or near where the HO2S is mounted
  • Fuel injector(s) not supplying enough fuel
  • Fuel system not supplying enough fuel during high fuel demand conditions (e.g., the fuel pump may not supply enough fuel)
  • MAF sensor is dirty (can cause PCM to underestimate airflow)
  • Intake gasket leak

2001 ford taurus p0301 and p0303

You are mis fireing on cyl 1 and 3 if you replaced plugs and wires and coil this is going to be a fuel injector issue or valve issue. See if you can swap the injectors with known good cyl. and see if it changes. Or have a shop do a fuel injector service on it to see if it helps. It may be to late for the fuel injector service.

Check engine light keeps coming up with same OBD-II codes

if they did not replace the front valve cover with a new updated one when they did the intake the code will come back.there is a tech service bulletin about this . your mass air flow sensor can be cleaned but would recommend a shop do this.
