Hello, sounds like the cable broke or, lots of newer veichels use air lines, any way possible, check and see if air lines are still hooked up to the back of the heater controls, should be 4or 5 air lines together, all hook on one place behind heater controlls

You have a problem most likely with the air temerature control blend door actyautor or the door is jammed or in most cases both. Repair requires the dash to be removed so have it properly diagnosed as the repair is well over $1000.00

2002 Chevy S10 blows warm air on all settings unless it is set for the vents I replaced the thermostat as had code for bad thermostat

You may have a problem with the blend door motors on the side of the heater box. As one other person said: "Look at the controls right above the driver's feet area toward the heater box". If they are moving properly all the way, when you move the selectors on the dash, then there may be a problem inside the heater box. If they don't move all the way, then the blend door motors may be bad or binding. Another common problem on these is the control head on the dash not working properly. The control head can be diagnosed with a scanner that can read codes for it. Hope this helps out.

Can't switch interior heat from dash to defrost on 2001 montana

The problem will be on the other side under and just to the right of the steering column. This is kind of a pain to repair. Pull the lower cover off from under the steering column. Watch the lever on the hvac case move as you click the position switch to defrost and back. It most likely is hanging up and not moving into defrost position. Reach up there and just move the lever or arm a little and it will probably finish it's movement. The arm has worn to a point where it has a little slot in it that is preventing or stopping the movement.
I have repaired this but you gotta watch it several times. The lever is spring loaded so you need to watch closely or you won't get it back together right.
I got the thing out and smoothed the worn place where the lever started working again. It's not real easy to get out so be careful. Can't really tell you anymore than that.

MY DISTRABUTION DIAL FOR DEF.,VENT, ETC IS IN DEFROST AND WON'T CHANGE. THE DIAL TURNS BUT NOTHING CHANGES. I NEEN SOME ADVICE ON WHAT TO DO TO FIND PROBLEM AND FIX. THANKS GENO

Here is the info. I hope the pictures show up. please rate assistance. thx.

Air distribution within the vehicle is determined by the function selector switch position. Two airflow mode doors are used to direct airflow within the heater core and evaporator core housing. The function selector switch/cable assembly is used to position these airflow mode doors. Refer to Section 412-00 for description and operation of each of the system functions.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Function Selector Cable Assembly
The function selector cable assembly moves the airflow mode doors to the desired position using a 2-sided pull-pull type cable assembly. The function selector controls the cable movement. The end of the cable assembly attaches to the airflow mode door/temperature blend door actuating assembly which transfers the cable movement to the 2 airflow mode doors.
An electrical switch is incorporated into the function selector to notify the A/C switch assembly if DEFROST or FLOOR/DEFROST is selected. When DEFROST or FLOOR/DEFROST is selected, the A/C switch assembly will disable the RECIRC request button and send an A/C request to the powertrain control module (PCM) regardless of the A/C request button indicator ON/OFF status.

Selector switch will not change for defrost, floor, or panel no matter what the dial is set on. Checked the gates behind the dash and they all seem to move. any ideas?

remove the selector knob and look for a crack in the sleeve that slides down on the switch it is known to be a problem this vehicle has electric blend door actuators when you change dial do you hear a clicking sound if so the gears are stripped in one of the actuators if not while you have knob off of the selector switch take a pair of needle nose pliers and turn switch if it changes it,s the knob if not then could be the selector switch

Heater control 98 chevy s10 blazer

These trucks have a problem where moisture builds up in the heater box then freezes. When this freezes and you change your heater settings it breaks the shaft for the blend door. If this is what happened you should be able to look under the dash above and to the right of the gas pedal and you will see two vaccuum accuators one of them you should be able to wiggle around the linkage if it is broke. To fix this you need to remove the entire dash to get the heater box out which involves discharging the AC and draining the coolant because the heater core and evaporator come out. Please rate.
