Check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir. If it is empty you have a leak in the system. You will need to fill the reservoir and run the car to find the leak. The leaking hose will then need to be replaced.

If the reservoir is full, you should check the belt that drives the pump to be sure it is there and not slipping on the pulley.

If that doesn't solve the problem it's time to take it to a repair shop for further diagnosis. A defective power steering pump or rack and pinion system would need to be checked by a mechanic.

Good luck.

Check the fluid. if its fine then you probally need a rack and pinion. also check the belt that runs the pump.

How to change a power steering belt on a 2000 kia sephia

Loosen the vertical bolt on the tension bracket by turning left, then slide belt off pulleys when you have enough slack, use a tension guage to reinstall and tighten to proper tension.

2001 Kia Sephia, steering box unit, grinding when wheel is turned

That sounds like a cv joint. It is right behind the tire on the end of the axle. It should have a rubber boot around it. I suspect the boot went bad causing you to lose the grease.

Power steering fluid gone in 2000 kia after filling up this morning.

Hi mdenny67,

You obviously have a leak somewhere (and a pretty bad one at that). Check around the reservoir (where you fill it up) for obvious leakage. Park your car somewhere that you'll be able to spot it on the ground, then move the car. This will give you an idea of where on the car it's leaking from. After this is done, look under the car in the area it's leaking from and we'll see about some repair instructions after that.

Hope I've helped, don't forget to rate.
