WHAT KIND OF BRAKES ARE ON THE REAR OF A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY

emergency brakes not engaged, right ? Look for small access hole on rear plate, theres a little toothed wheel there you can turn down with a small screwdriver to adjust shoes, keep turning it till pressure off shoes

The rear wiper has its own pump motor. pull the hose from the wiper and have someone engage to see if there is a clog. do the same at the motor. if bo liquid comes out then its the pump. also check fluid level in reservoir as well as a possible secondary reservoir

Does the metal sound stop when you hit your brakes, it my be bad brakes???

posibility: the rear brakes are worm out or brocken or a bad wheel bearing.

was this with a trailer connected or was there recently been trailer wiring added?
