The VIN should be on that metal plate aswell , but if not check the tag on the rear end housing one should be the gear ratio and serial number and the other should contain the VIN failing that ypu can always check the Chassis and engine block . In some vehicles the vin will also be on the seat belts or printed in the wheel well for the spare tire. Youy can also check the firewall in the engine compartment. Good Luck

take the chassis number to a service dealer and they should be able to track it back to a vin number and build date

what are you doing, what is goal , what is purpose?
what is the question?
what country?
our cars, here in uSA have VIN numbers, never chassis # like other countries have.
the VIN has the year, coded. on all cars here,
this is a USA forum so, you need to be clear your questions
and all cars vary by country.
The chassis number is usually the last 6 on the VIN, it is also located on a data plate inside the drivers door in most cases, on a data plate under the hood riveted on the body. The engine number is usually pressed into the block itself under the intake manifold. You can get this from the VIN as well as it is usually the series of numbers at the end with no letters in it. If your talking about the engine type code you can get that from the VIN as well but you have to take two 2 digit code from the VIN and reference that to get the actual type that was installed.
Location The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) plate is stamped on a plate attached to the bonnet locking platform. The VIN is also stamped in the following locations: 1) On a plate behind the LH lower corner of the windscreen. 2) On the chassis RH longitudinal behind the rear wheel.
on the drivers side near the bottom of the windsheild you will see a plate with a number on it.... that number is the vin number... it should be 17 digits long... numbers and letters
