Go to Autozone or other auto parts store. most will read the code from your vehicle for free and even give you a printout of what the problem is.

Your vehicle either requires maintenance or has suffered a failure...either way you need to take it to a shop.

2001 mountaineer Pai smog with minor smooth leak?

go to an exhaust shop and buy a roll of exhaust pipe fix tape
wrap it around the leak and seal it off
as for the $500.00 payment , that sounds a bit rich as if the car doesn't belong to you and you are only renting it or borrowing it , all repairs are at his expense not yours

Why is my oil life percent is 9 and can I drive still or I have to change engine oil soon for the mercury mountaineer 2006

Regular maintenance is needed for oil changes. If your oil level is dropping you need to keep it up to operating level but you do need to find out why it is burning or losing oil. If your oil is black then it needs to be changed regardless of the miles on it.

The Warning Light "Service engine soon" came on. We have a 2001 Mercury Sable. How many miles can the car be driven before dealer inspection?

This light means that the computer in the car has sensed a problem with something on the car. You should take the car to a local auto parts store and have them read the codes from the service engine light. Post the codes they give you here and we can help more. Most likely you wont hurt the car by driving it with that light on. Better to ba safe then sorry thought.

2001 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER V8 DRIVES PERFECT UNTIL 60 MPH STEERING WHEEL SHAKES..THEN AT 70 MPH CAR SHAKES...BUT NO NOISE...WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM?JUST BOUGHT IT YESTERDAY...DROVE IT 15 MILES AND PARKED...

This is often the result of a tire that is out of balance. Check for bubbles on any of the tires and have the tires balanced. That should clear up the problem.

Indicator light said check transmition

Is it the check engine light or the oil light coming on? Where is your dipstick? and if it is the oil light, put a quart of oil in before you go anywhere and then buy a dipstick. If it is the service engine light only just drive it for 20 miles without a problem.
