I just picked up a 95 with the 3.1 drove it 60 miles no problem. got out of work, drove for 5 minutes then experienced what you just described. in addition sometimes it seemed to slip into neutral and the speedometer kept fluctuating although the actual speed wouldn't. today - the car seems fine EXCEPT i'm now noticing it won't cruise about 50mph under 2800rmp. if i let off the gas it'll drop down to 1200rpm. as if it won't cruise in the last gear?

My 2005 chevy impala started jerking and then it wouldnt chnage gears unless i press the gas all the way to the floor is it the transmission?

no on 05 chevy the transmisson shift is control by vacume look for a vacume line that is dry rooted or has come off start at the engine first then work the way down to the transmisson. a line off or dry rotted any where in the syastem will give you a hard shift sometiimes like a hard jerking motion when
shifting.

I cant find were the transmission control solenoid is located at and need to replace it

what kind of transmisson is this 4t40or 4t60 or 4t65 or 4L60 ..well most general motor solenoids are located on the the transmisson valve body . which means on a rear wheel drive the transmisson pan needs to be remove to gain access to the valve body . On a front wheel drive the valve body is located under the side cover on the transmisson . Now if i remember rigth there are 3 or 4 control solnoids . 1-2 shift 2-3 shift and a Tcc solnoid . you need to know which one to replace and what location are they on the valve body

We have a problem with the over drive. ligth blinkns O/D at the shift

Try checking the transmisson fluid level if it is low this could cause the problem you are describing, any slight loss of transmiion fluid can cause the transmisson shift to shift incorrectly.

After warm up the transmission will not always shift up into Drive and overdrive causing the engine to race.

try checking the fluid level if it is even aa half pint off it can cause shift problems, if it is low add some Lucas transmisson oil condtioner this will help it shift smoother. also look at the color of the fluid is it brownish in color? if yes then it's time to change the filter and fluid. if you take it to a shop they chagre about $150.00 but it will keep you from damaging the transmisson. the oil and filter for the transmisson should be changed every 30,000 miles on any car. Thisis oone of the most overlooked items of maintence on cars peopel simply don't know about change the filter and oil till they have to pay for a new transmisson.

My 2004 for F-150 Herittage only has 32,000 miles on it. I wont work in reverse and wont shift out of first gear. What could the problem be. The shop where its at cant figure it out, they said its not the...

There could be several but It should have 100,000 mile warrenty on the drive train so take it to the dealer Your truck is notthe first one I have seen on here with this problem and always assumed it was a transmisson problem. I ned to know how they know it's not the transmisson? did they remove the shift lingange offf the transmisson and see if it would shift thru the gears ? Also Ford has it's powertrain control module mouned in the transmisson so this does not seem right to me, ask them if they took the linkage off and tested the control module and get back to me.

change the transmisson oil and filter and all oil, about 12 quarts and add 1 quart of lucas transmisson condtioner to soften the seals and bands and clutchs and clean the shafts on the shifting valves.
