I was hooking up a radio in my 98 grand prix and my message center over the radio went out what is the problem

Hook up everything (carefully) before checking what works and what doesnt.

check the fuses

You can replace it as long as the one you are replacing is the same set-up. If you have a manual adjusting seat and replace it with a power seat it will fit but you wont have the hook ups for it. Also make sure if it is a bucket seat (single person) you dont replace it with a bench (3 persons fit in front) seat or you will run into problems with the center console and shifter. vice versa may bolt up but there will be a gap between the 2 front seats

your radio has been wired to the lights. you need to run a new power wire to your radio from the fuse panel using a different fuse. do you have a spare not being used? as for the volume problem, I can't help you. This should be a simple fix. if you have the owners manual, look up the fuse for the radio(look under fuses, it will have a diagram of where the fuses are and what they are) and rewire back to that fuse. hope this helps

Try a salvage yard. You might get a deal on a motor with one on it and less miles. My 3800 has 296,000 miles on it.

you need a factory radio relocation harness that leaves the factory radio hooked into the system as it is part of the computer memory system. i have a 04 grand prix gt2 & i bought a pioneer dvd/ipod system, and i noticed mine wasnt working either. i got my harness from scosche and it was around $53 bucks. GM06B...thats the part number! hope i helped you out!

factory jack to be placed in front of tire inbetween notches on seem. A manual floor jack can be used placing it under center connection bracket for rear wheels. Be shure to block front tires when using floor jack and have car in gear if a manual or park if automatic transmision.

i had a 1995 c1500 and the wipers went out. i took it to the dealer and they took the radio out and put a new one in. the wipers worked fine. they told me that the radio controled 15 different things other than the radio its self. i would put the factory one back in and see if the problem continues. if it solves the problem i would get a harness from a installer that the local super center or an automotive store

The code to unlock the radio is in your owner's packet, each radio is unique and has it's own code, call the dealer they may be able to get the code using your VIN number.
