I need the factory marks and the mechanic marks for a 1997 subaru legacy 2.5 timing belt

I will need to know if this engine is a DOHC or not, the two setups are not even close to being the same. The DOHC engine WILL bend all 16 valves if the belt is not installed correctly, the SOHC engine is NOT a non-interference engine and will not bend valves if installed incorrectly.

How to set the timing on a 1997 Subaru legeacy outback

You don't, the computer does. There is no adjustment on a factory timing setup. If you are replacing the timing belt or chain you must either know how to do those type of jobs or you follow the shop manual on the process.

I fouled up the timing on my 1990 Subaru Legacy Wagon. Tried resetting it to the factory specs but it still wont start.

You have not set it to the factory spec, and its probably 180 degrees off. Rotate the crank to top dead center (the mark on the crank toothed pulley, align the cam timing marks, refit the belt THEN release the tensioner. Rotate the engine manually to verify that all the timing marks realign themselves.

Timing belt broke and need timing marks diagram 2.2 subaru

the timing marks are on the camshaft pulleys and there are 2 notches on each pulley> they line up with 2 marks on the engine block for each pulley> and the crankshaft has a notch that lines up with a mark on the engine block aswell> pluss the new timing belt will have white marks on it that will line up with all of the marks on the pulleys when they are in the right place so its nearly impossable to do it wrong
