Took the battery out to replace the fron left headlight. Once we put the batter back the car would not start and all lights inside and out started flashing. Started the car downhill in 1st gear and drove for 20 min. Blue flashing light was on whole time. This light is located to the left of steering wheel next to interior dimmer control. Got home and car would not start and blue flashing light continues to go off. What is that light and how do we get it to stop? Also why does the car not start. Battery obviously is not dead. Thanks

Ottawa tech, thank you very much for your help. We will take a look. I hope this is something we can take care of with out going to a garage! All this just for replacing a headlight...:)

Does this car have an aftermarket alarm system? it sounds like it does, as i dont ever recall seeing a blue flashing light in one of these cars. do you have an alarm / auto start remote control? try locking / unlocking the car several times with the remote, if it has a remote start try starting it with the remote a few times. try locking / unlocking the car with the key. good luck!

have a look under neath the dash and under the hood for anything that looks like aftermarket wiring. i strongly feel that the previous owner may have installed an aftermarket alarm. may need to go to a garage and be removed (there can be a ALOT of wiring repair involved in this) if you can see some sort of alarm module and identify a brand and model, you might be able to track down a key fob from whoever caries the brand.

This is not an after market alarm. It is a factory installed alarm

Sounds like a security system in the vehicle that shuts down parts of the computer when power is unhooked. Look in you operator's manual that goes over the security system to see how you reset it when you unhook the batter.

Good Luck

Battery isn't charging 1999 Buick Century Custom 3.1 V6 I replaced the battery with a brand new one, took the alternator to autozone to have it tested and it passed twice, checked the fuses in the fuse...

Hi Arkina, Have the voltage regulator inspected and checked. If that checks out fine, check the earth connections or have someone check for you. If you have a volt test meter, start the engine and connect the meter to the positive and negative battery poles, measuring the output. At idle the alternator should output about twelve to thirteen volts, increasing to about thirteen volts with an increase of engine speed. With lights and heated rear window on the output should be about thirteen and a half to fourteen volts. Regards John

Battery problems

Well,if the battery is bad,it could have been defective, replace it,and look for a draw on the system,a lot of the time it is the clock,so pull the fuse for the clock, and see if the battery will stay up.

Two days ago I noticed my battery was flat as I left the lights on. I recharged it last night and put it back in again today. I then pressed the lock button on my keyfob 5 times so that the key is...

That clicking is the starter trying to engage. Try jumpstarting the vehicle. Your battery may not have come back yet.... and you may need a new one. Try letting it run for a half hour or so after jumpstarting. If it starts immediately after shutting it off you're probably good to go. If it requires another jumpstart then you need a new battery.
