Some smell is normal if it has been quite sometime between oil changes. This happens more with short distance driving.

How does it get there?

Through cylinder blow by when the engine is cold. The piston rings leak minuscule amounts into the oil which add up over time.

If you are having no other running issues (IE black/drk grey smoke out tail pipe with oil residue on pipe tip) I would not be alarmed by this.

Changing oil and the oil smells like gasoline I know this is bad but how bad is it

The fact that the oil level is too high and smells of gasoline suggests that fuel is finding its way into the oil pan - hence the rising oil level ..

On older cars that had a mechanical fuel pump failure of the pump diaphragm allowed fuel to leak internally and into the engine. Your car won't have an old style mechanical fuel pump but the principle is the same - somewhere where your engine oil and fuel can cross paths, they probably have.

I have a 01 jeep cheeroke and last night the oil pressure gauge dropped to zero so i just left the truck and this am the oil is full and smells like gasoline

Gasoline in the oil would be from a faulty injector or fuel pressure regulator.
You would need to change the oil and check the fuel system for leaks before you drive it.

There is dripping from the left rear underside

Hi,
If it IS GASOLINE GET IT FIXED ASAP...really! Dangerous to be driving it.
If you confirm it's OIL than get it to a shop and up on their hoist/rack and find out where it's coming from.

2000 Chevy Impala smells like gas

Check under the hood on the side of the fuel rail, the fuel pressure regulator value, this is a common problem.

528i strong gasoline smell

Don't know this car but from the age, I'd start looking for damaged fuel or vapor recovery hoses
