This may indicate that your rear brakes are wearing out.

Go somewhere and have the rear brakes checked for run out.

Rear brake service is usually reasonably priced. Your van is old enough that it might be overdue for new shoes and some drum machining.

Good luck and be careful.

Van will not back up or drive forward. Seems like the back end is locked up. Van started and shifted into gear, but would not move.

If you can feel the thump of the engine when you select gear I would say the trans is working, most likely I would say that your emergency brakes are locked, your rear shoes are binding with the drum. 2 causes, a frayed cable may not be allowing you to release the the brakes, or the springs are soft in the rear brake area and not releasing. Jack up the rear put in neutral, emergency lever off, see if wheel can turn by hand, if not, remove wheel hit brake drum with rubber mallet to see if this releases the shoes off the drum. Inspect emergency brake cable first to see that there is little tension holding it. let me know how you go. cheers.

Brake lights on 1989 honda civic went out...what is the problem? brake switch maybe? All fuses are fine

Check the brake light switch above the brake pedal with a volt meter, when the pedal is pushed you should have 12 volts in and out.

Brake light is staying on, brakes seem to working fine, emergency brake isn't on, what do you think may be the problem?

If the brake light in the dash is staying on then you need brake fluid, the only reasons that you would need fluid is that you have a leak or that your pads or shoes are worn out,you need to check this right away.

My '83 dodge ram van goes in reverse fine, but when i try to go forward, the R rear wheel spins, seems the L rear is jamming?? is this a diff or brake issue?

sometimes the emergency brake will stick even after it is released. Most drum brakes will still let it go backwards but not forward. I would pull the rear drums and check. If e/brake is stuck removing the left drum will be difficult. If so then you will have to manually adjust the brakes until drum loosens up. good luck

Emergency Brake light comes on intermittently while driving

most cases it would just be a ground wire that is loosing connection and gaining it back. other times it can be that the e-brake needs to be tightened up. i wouldnt worry to much about the e-brake coming on while your driving unless you notice there is a problem when the car is starting to drive. i would look at the whole e-brake system starting with the cables and working my way back to the shoes and drums. maybe all you need to do is just fine tune it a little

Rear brake lights do not work.

The brake light that is on the dash is for the emergency brake...When that light is on that is supposed to tell you that the emergency brake is applied if the brake is not applied then you need to service the emergency brake. And on the brake pedal there is a coupler that is hooked up to the pedal bracket that wire may be soft set try gently snapping it into place.

What does this light mean?

Alright, so if this light is red with an exclamation mark (!) in it, that would mean that your emergency brake is engaged
