Question about 2006 Lexus RX400h Used Cars

Dead it wont start it has 125,000 miles and may have a dead battery

    I have a 2006 RX 400h. I'm a mom who is constantly driving kids around. The battery on my hybrid has gone dead more times than I can count. The battery has been replaced 3 times. Again this morning I tried to start my car and the battery was completely dead. No lights left on. No doors left open. It has also gone dead a couple of times right in the middle of the day. The dealer can't find any problem with the car. Just a lemon I suppose? I care deeply about the environment but I care even more about the safety of my children. I'll never buy another hybrid. Can't trust that the battery will not go dead and leave me stranded.

Put a new battery and go through an electrician to see if the alternator is charging the battery

Sound like your fuel pump is loosing prime. May look into replacement.

Do you have a bad starter? also check for loose or dirty battery cables on both ends of cables as the starter does take a lot of pull and a dirty or loose cable won't give it the power to start but will let the lights work.

Battery dead. recharged, car started. drove 20 miles. parked 8 hrs. drove back home. after parking 15 minutes car wont start. Which is problem, alternator or battery?
Don't know.
You would need to have both components tested. It could be a dead cell in the battery. Or a bad connection. If the alternator were at fault it should discharge when the engine is running and slowly go dead.

Wont start engine light flashing
Have you tried to jump the battery and crank it ?
Its possible the alternator failed or something happened to drain the battery.
Is the security warning light on ?

Sounds like you have a fuel pressure issue, get a scan of starting fluid from the parts store, spray it into the engine air intake hose whilst you crank the engine over, if it starts you need to repair the fuel pump. The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank, they have an life span of about 100-125,000 miles on average, I repeat this is an average, some go longer some much shorter..

Change the Trans Fluid every 30,000 miles or two years, on all your vehicles.
Same on Power Steering Fluid and Brake Fluid.

While driving my saab, alot of warning lights came and stalls
alternator gone bad, 100%. as the voltage starts dropping, all the lights on the dash will go crazy because the electronics cannot perform their self diagnostics, as they do not have sufficient voltage.

Engine starts but wont stay running, 1998 ford 5.4 litre 125,000 miles. will run with foot on gas (wont idle)
Replace the throttle position sensor, this sensor controls idle speed and is most likely faulty.

If you have had the battery checked, attempted to jump start or know for a fact that the battery is new and/or should not be dead....you may want to have your alternator checked out - it may need replaced. When alternators go bad they mimic the effects of a dead battery (tries to turn over, battery light comes on, etc.) Hope that helps - you can pick one up and install yourself for around $150 bucks or 400-500 to have someone else do it for you.
