What type of transmission fluids required for Mitsubishi Eclipse? I used some transmission fluids from O'Reily, Advance Auto and Amsoil and it appears all these fluids won't work. I was told by the dealership that the proper transmission fluids could only be purchased from the dealership? And this was more then likely why my transmission failed over and over again. Also the last time the transmission failed it was also mention the fluid was 1 quart too much. Even the replacement transmission failed after 3 months. According this left over O Reilly Global ATF bottle it states - Mitsubishi - Dexron II, ATF+3, Diamond SP-III This was the transmission Fluid I was provided in the O Reilly store that was suppose to work. I drive a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT --- All my problems started with a transmission flush. I have went through 2 transmission now of them worked.

What a bad experience you had there.

Look or search for Diamond ATF SP3. Beware Diamond is a brand name and it is the recommended product for your car.

Best regards and remember to rate this solution.

Many people are using the incorrect specification in auto transmission systems requiring Dia Queen SP III transmission fluids, this is due to confusion arising from the fact that many people believe DEXRON III is suitable, IT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR MITSUBISHI AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS requiring SP III.

2001 mitsubishi eclipse. Automatic transmission

Transmission may be low on transmission fluid or the transmission fluid pump failed. If it's electrical, you can still get it in to gear, but would not shift gears. Good luck and keep me posted, check transmission fluid level and have the transmission line pressure tested. Before that check all your fuses.

Type Of Transmission Fluid

Hi, most auto transmissions use DextronII or III if it requires a speciality mineral oil then the dipstick or a warning will be shown in that area.
To confirm your thoughts your local parts supplier will have all the details of fluid capacities and grades/viscosities on file he or she will be glad to provide you with these.
If still unsure or worried? Mitsubishi website www.mitsubishi.com will gleen an abundance of service tips and details.
Good luck!
