When starting your vehicle, cycle the key twice to pump up the fuel pressure. If the vehicle starts like normal, I would replace the fuel filter. Has the fuel filter ever been replaced??? I posted as a solution, but there is no option on this question to get more info.

See previous post for a solution to your problem. Does the vehicle drive ok? Was there any previous repairs performed on the vehicle before this starting problem??

This could be the signs of the fuel pump going. If you can install a pressure gauge and see if the fuel pressure is up to specs.with the key on and engine off.The specs.are 50 to 57 on the 4.2 and 55 to 62 on the 5.3.Should hold for at least 10 minutes or more. This is with the key on and engine off.Do not cycle the key.As far as tune up.You can check the plugs. They are 100k plugs but they could be worn.I don`t think they are if it runs good once it starts.I`m sure you are changing the air filter also. You seem to take good care of your vehicle.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Take the vehicle to any place that services emmisions on vehicle ar go to the dealer and the codes checked from your computer. If nothing is found (code wise) get a full tune up. You may have a clogged fuel filter or may even got bad fuel at any gas station

My car keeps cutting off in the middle of the road while I'm driving. What could be the problem. I have 85,000 miles on my car. I've changed the oil and had the transmission fluid changed as...

Why would you tell us about engine oil & trans fluid changes?

Out with the old oils & in with the new ?

I would lean towards a fuel pump binding up & stopping
fuel,thus the car shuts off

Only one suggestion, could be other causes

Fluid every 30,000 miles on ALL Vehicles, never go over
3 years or you will have an expensive rebuilt and never make

I have approximately 144,000 miles on my 2004 Impala. I have never changed trans fluid & filter since my purchase of the car, already having 30,000 miles at time of my purchase. Now I'm noticing hard...

Having owned a trans repair shop, your correct,if you change it now,
it will most likely slip.

You need to change trans fluid and flush power steering every 30,000 miles

Your trans is a good one and very luck to get past 110,000, even with fluid changes.

Save up $2000 for a rebuild or a CERT Reman, your over due.

That applies to all your vehicles

Bet you don't change your brake fluid every two years, spark plugs every three years or 60,000,
fuel filter every three years, and on and on

Need maintenace schedule

Spark plugs at 100,000 (use AC Delco plugs, they work best), check air filter at 15,000 replace at 30,000, replace fuel filter at 30,000, service (fluid and new filter) automatic trans at 60,000, replace hoses and flush cooling system at 100,000 miles, (use long life coolant), check belt at 30,000, replace if any rubber in ribs is missing, cracks are ok per factory bulletin's. oil and filter at least every 5,000 miles, lube chassis every other oil change, more often if u drive short trips, lube the door hinges and hood hinges and all latches every 30,000 miles. If I missed anything you want to know let me know. one last note manual trans and differential change lube only if torn down for repair, otherwise it is lifetime.
