My 95 nissan is hard to start more so when its cold. i put a new battery in it and that helped a little for a short time then i put a new fuel pump in and it was starting good and then got bad in about a week. then i took off the maf sensor and cleaned it and its starting better than it was but still takes about 3 to 8 times to start. when replaceing parts do you have to clear the codes? can i check for codes myself? if so how would i do that? thank you, kelly

Did you replace fuel filter when you changed fuel pump, because if you didn't and its plugged up it will ruin your pump pretty quick.also check crank sensor.

One possibility is the temp sensor,if it does know it's a cold start ,it won't have an enriched fuel mixture to start.
Change it or put on a scanner and look at the temp sensor reading when cold.

95 nissan truck - fuel pump or fuse or relay?

Well you have to check the fuse and relay for the fuel pump,if they are good, then you need to take the fuel pump out to test it,there are 2 wires that goes in 1 positive and 1 negative so connect it to the battery to see if the pump is still good or not.

Engine turns, camshaft turns, fuel pump and filter working good, and fuses are good but engine does not start.

Turning is good, but does it have spark? How do you know fuel pump is good? whats your fuel pressure? Spark plugs? I know these may have a problem in cold weather, Put a little oil in each cylinder, new spark plugs and hold the gas pedal to the floor and see if it starts. Make sure you have a good battery.

95 Nissan Maxima with fuel injection issue.

Could be battery, starter or coolant sensor.

It is hard to understand / get across engine noises with words so difficult to diagnose over the net but try to push start the car and let me know if it starts ok with a push. Also, maybe try a jump start, preferably using a circuit protector if you have one.
Let me know results of the above.

My 95 yj hard too start after i change my fuel

when it does not start you need to verify no fuel pressure, Most likely your problem is the wiring harness is bad which will destroy a new pump if the pump is not geting the voltage required.

'98 Yukon - Cold Start Issues (not battery)

I am thinking that there may be a fuel bleed down problem if this is an injected engine.

Try this, turn on the key, but do not try to start the engine for 30 seconds. Then see if the engine will start on the first try.

As for wearing the battery down, cold is hard on a battery, so having an engine that starts easy is easier on the battery.
