I have a 1996 chevrolet cavalier my car will stall for about 30min to 1hr as soon as i step on the brake and start back up again. when i try and start car i have to press on and off gas petel for it to start. it only stalls if i have been driving for a while. replace fuel pump, starter,battier,altonateor. i had a tune up done. i dont what else to do. problem is still there

Start checking and eventually replacing air filter, spark plugs, and fuel filter, check that air intake is not obstructed.

it is most likely **** in your gas tank  the **** gets stuck in the fuel pump and then it wont send fuel let me know what you  think

SOURCE: 89 Chevy Corsica keeps stalling while driving

. Have it checked for a trouble code. It seems like a sensor problem. ( Idle position , crankshaft position, camshaft position sensors could be bad. Also the EGR valve could be bad. with a caode you can narrow it down a bit.

SOURCE: 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier sending unit was changed

eng.temp.coolant sensor,located on thermostat housing,if u think sensor is defect,this check will make engine light come on,unplug elect. connection on sensor while car is idling,cooling fan will start up within 1 min.if it doesnt check fans power circuit.or apply batt.voltage directly to fan to see if fan will work.

USUALLY I LOOSEN ALL OF THE BOLTS BEFORE I TAKE THE BELT OFF TO HELP KEEP THE PULLEY FROM TURNING... USE A LONG SCREWDRIVER OR PRYBAR .. PUT IT BETWEEN THE TWO OTHER BOLTS AND LOOSEN THE 3RD. CONTINUE TILL ALL ARE LOOSE.. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY REMOVED 2 OF 3 BOLTS THEN RE INSTALL THE OTHER 2 A FEW THREADS SO YOU CAN PUT THE SCREWDRIVER IN BETWEEN THEM TO STOP THE PULLEY FROM TURNING.
