P0304 = #4 cylinder misfires
P0170 = Fuel Trim, Bank-1
P0173 = Fuel Trim, Bank-2
P1250 = this is invalid code for BMW
P1188 = Fuel control, bank-1, sensor-1 (pre-cat sensor)
P1189 = Fuel control, bank-2, sensor-1 (pre-cat sensor)
Vacuum leaks and/or sensor defective for the issues of the codes.
This error codes really need parts to replace. But you have to replace the thermostat first. Then clear the codes and see if any reappears,then replace defective part/s

Hi...I am looking for diagnostic codes on my 2000 BMW 323i and I can't seem to find the explination of the codes and was wondering if you could help me. I have the scanner, but no book. The codes are as...

James,

Based on the numerous codes and others who have experienced many of these problems, I would say you have a vacuum leak near the intake. I would also clean my DISA and ICV as well.

Please buy a Peake code reader (No..I don't sell them but I can vouch that they save time and money in the long run. A generic code reader will have you throwing thousands of dollars into repairing your car that aren't needed.). The Peake code reader is BMW specific and gives a more detailed result because the reader scans BMW specific codes that a generic OBD 2 reader can't.

This guy has an excellent video on how to clean your ICV and I think he has one on the DISA (which is next to the ICV):

Hope this helps!

p1188: Fuel Control (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
p1189: Fuel Control (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
p0171 and p0173: These are very common codes on BMW's which can also be false codes, try clearing the codes and run the test again they may not come up again.
p1250: Never came across that....
