I would like to set the timing but can't seem to locate the distributor. Where is it located? Do you even set the timing on this car? I can't even locate the numbers by the timing belt to even set the degrees BTDC.

Generally speaking for any cars it's relatively obvious to find out the distributor cap by following the path from any spark plug wire form the plug to its origin.

In your specific case I expect that you doesn't have traditional distribution cap meaning that you can't adjust the timing this task being assumed automatically by your vehicule PCM.

In any ways you will adjust the timing by the timing belt positionning unless the belt is bad and jumped. If it's the situation the belt has to be replaced and a new one installed with the proper cam and crank synchro.

Why would you like to set your timing? Is your check engine light turned on?

How to set timing on my 91 nissan truck

To set the timing on your 1991 Nissan truck, follow these steps:
  1. Locate the timing marks on the engine. They are usually located on the front of the engine, near the crankshaft pulley.
  2. Remove the timing cover if necessary to access the timing marks.
  3. Check the engine's specifications to determine the correct timing setting. This information can be found in the owner's manual or a repair manual.
  4. Connect a timing light to the battery and to the number one spark plug wire. The timing light will allow you to see the timing marks more easily.
  5. Start the engine and let it warm up to operating temperature.
  6. Aim the timing light at the timing marks on the engine and observe the marks as the engine runs.
  7. Use a wrench to loosen the distributor bolt slightly.
  8. Rotate the distributor slightly to adjust the timing until the marks line up with the specified setting.
  9. Tighten the distributor bolt once the timing is set.
  10. Recheck the timing to ensure it is still set correctly.
  11. Turn off the engine and disconnect the timing light.
  12. Reinstall the timing cover if it was removed.
If you are not comfortable performing this procedure, it's best to take your truck to a qualified mechanic for timing adjustment.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

There are two types of 'timing' camshaft and ignition. Lets guess you are talking ignition.

My 1984 302 has a timing issue I have change the oil pump and reinstalled mother and now my timing is off this

The distributor drive gear has angled teeth, so it turns as you slide it into place. Turn the engine over until you are on TDC for number one. Look at your distributor cap and see where the number one wire terminal is. Pull the cap and make sure that the rotor is pointed to it.

Timing chain and distributor

Ouch, I would start by verifying you didn't miss setup your timing. It could be off by one or two sprocket locations or off by 180 deg. You might have to pull the #1 spark plug to verify that.

If the distributor rotor segment does not come within a few degrees of the number 8 pointer, the gear mesh between the distributor and camshaft may be off a tooth or more. Repeat the procedure in order to achieve proper alignment.

Caution!Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Install the distributor clamp bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the distributor clamp bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

1989 honda crx

If you haven't had the distributor out then turn the cam so the rotor points to No.1. Then yiou should see some marks either lining up or close to it.
If you have had the distributor out, set the cam and then worry about the distributor.
Some engines have more than one possible location for the cam gear. I'm not 100% about Hondas so I can't comment either way. Sorry.
