My 2000 kia spectra was running fine and just died an dnow won't start. All of ther lights work so it isn't the alternator. ANy suggestions?

May be the fuel pump check for power going to the fuel pump if there is power then listen for the pump to come on when you turn the key to the on possition this will be a humming sound comming from the rear of the car

    The fuel pump is super easy to access and change. It's right under the rear seat.

    If the pump is working, pull a spark plug and check for compression. I'm guessing your timing belt failed. You are in luck, however. The 2000 spectra has a non-interference engine. Despite what you may hear elsewhere. It's easy to change the belt and waterpump. . Shop manuals accessable from the kia website.

CHECK ALTERNATOR FUSE AND FUSE LINK ALTERNATOR NOT GETTING NO POWER FROM BATTERY.ALSO CHECK ALTERNATOR WIRES CONNECTORS FOR DAMAGE OR BROKE WIRES IN THE ALTERNATOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. I HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH CHEVROLET THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR WIRES CAME OUT THE CONNECTOR I HAD TO BUY NEW CONNECTOR CRIMP IT SOLDER THEN SEAL IT WITH ELECTRICAL TAPE IF FUSE AND FUSE LINK OKAY MORE LIKELY YOU HAVE DAMAGED WIRES AT CONNECTOR MAKE SURE DRIVE BELT TIGHT AND NOT SLIPPING.

bad alternator. happened to me in a big puddle. go to the parts store and they'll test it for free. you're running the car off of the battery. you will kill the battery if you keep going. the alternator is a pain to get out/in because there are several things in the way that must be moved. $100-$150 for the part, 1-3 hours to do it. have the battery tested after you're done. good luck!

Stopping problem is totally unrelated to alternator. There should be a rubber hose between the engine and the brake booster behind the master cylinder. Make sure that it, as well as any other vacuum hoses are connected. If you can get it running, listen for loud sucking sound from leak.
